Question : Is there a way to resolder a broken piece of silver jewellery without removing the stones in it?
I made a piece of sliver jewellery with three stones and attached silver decoration. After wearing it for a while, one of the silver pieces came off. Is there a way to resolder it to the main piece without removing the stones? I've heard about putting some of the piece in water - does this work? Am a bit demoralised as I put a lot of work into it. (I should note that I solder using a blowtorch - a small one.)The stones are bezel set and are laboradorite.

Question : Stone Identification?
I need help identifying three stones,gems, minerals..1st - metal, silver colored stone. It is used very often in jewelry.Is shiny when used for jewelry.2nd - deep red stone, sometimes with a black line or two that runs through it3rd - ((this one is harder)) There were these stones I saw at a rock show. Very beautiful. They came from Morroco and South America. They had a rough quality and were multicolored.Thanx.This is picture of 3rd one. Is this a good idea or not? Personally I wouldn't spend this amount of money without seeing the item in person first.Also you maybe able to haggle with the jewlery store by showing them this item could be bought cheaper. Keep in mind you need to be comparing apples to apples. The ring needs to be the same quality or they would just point this out as justification for charging more. Keep in mind the four C's. Cut, Clarity, Carat and Color. Cut is one of the most important to me. I have an ideal cut and even though it's a G in color when you compare it to a E Good cut my diamond outshines it. Also next is Clarity. A much smaller stone with a better clarity rating would cost more than a larger stone with less clarity. The clarity also contributes to the cost and how nice the stone looks over all.Carat is preference . Some girls would love a huge stone and some like a smaller.

My soon to be fiance is shopping for my engagement ring. He actually knows the EXACT ring that I fell in love with...thus telling me I have made his job easy now. However, he has gone to many jewelry stores today and they all told him to get me a solitaire as the three stones would not hold their value in the years to come like a solitaire. Is this true? I told my boyfriend that I wasn't worried about how much the ring would be worth in 10 years because I never have any intention on selling it. Can someone knowledgeable of jewelry help me?
