Answer:
the only way to verify quality is to have it appraised. So buy the jewelery in advance, have it appraised within the return window, that way, if it's not real, you can return it. I've bought stuff (not jewelery) from Overstock and so far so good. Good luck!

Question : Engagement rings vs Bridal sets?
What's the difference? And can I use a bridal set to propose?
Answer:
An engagement is usually a single diamond solitaire. A bridal set is when the engagement rings comes with a matching wedding band which I love as it is hard to match up a pretty band with a solitaire. You use the diamond to propose and then during the wedding the bride removes the engagement ring to her right hand and the band goes on first and then she replaces the diamond on top of the band. There are also bridal sets known as enhancers or ring jackets which are a band, the solitaire and then another band to "enhance" the center stone. During the ceremony you would place the first band, then the engagement ring, then the second band.

Are there any secrets out there about how to get the best deals on platinum engagement/bridal sets? We don't have the most money but want to get the most bang for our buck.

we got my rings on jewelrytelevision.com they are beautiful and i would never want another ring :) we were skeptical at first because i had only used them for gemstone jewelry...but their diamonds are great (remember that a round diamond cut will have more sparkle and hide inclusions better) they will also do an appraisal for like $50...we didn't get one because he didn't have time and it takes 2 more weeks...but we did get it appraised somewhere else at almost 3x what we paid :) anyways, check them out and good luck!!!

If u have a lil ceremony now and then a big formal ceremony a yr later - does he give u the big diamond first and wait to give u the wedding band at the 2nd ceremony ? We are new at this.

It's up to you but I think you should exchange wedding bands at your first wedding, as this is when you are legally married. Don't think of your second, larger wedding as the be-all-and-end-all, it is the marriage that counts.I wouldn't want to be married for a year but be thinking the whole time 'well it doesn't reeeally count because we don't have wedding rings and I haven't had my big wedding'.Maybe you could even get an eternity ring at your second ceremony? Then you can have both!

my boyfriend n i were looking at rings n came accross some gorgeous bridal sets. we were wondering how these work.... wen he proposes would he just give the engagement ring then on the wedding day (wud i still wear the engagement ring and take it off during the service to ensure the right order of rings) and then keep the final piece for the birth of our first child.....is that right or do ya just get given the whole lot together at some point?

2 of the rings are wedding bands (one for you; one for hubby) and the other ring is an engagement ring. I think that trios are more for when you get engaged without a ring and then buy one...I'm not totally sure, though.
