Question : i'm 23 and since i was a sophomore in college...?
I'm 23 and since i was a sophomore in college i knew that my gf was the girl i was going to marry. although we had our issues and break ups we are back together and i think we both realize that we are going to be together. MY QUESTION is in 2 parts: 1) when is the right time to propose? should i have my own house since i still live with the rents? i have a full time job as a cook at a country club so i am saving my money.... anyway... 2) what do you think of this ring?http://www.danforthdiamond.com/engagement-rings-with-side-stones/7710/Platinum-5.5-mm-Engagemen t-Ring-with-Channel-Set-Diamonds-(.25-ct.-tw.)/details.htmif you have a better one, my budget is 5,000 on my credit card (limit) and it must have 6 side diamonds and one larger diamond since her favorite number is 7.... PLEASE SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY!!! THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANSWERS

Answer:
First off congratulations on finding the women your going to marry and I hope you two are very happy! Now 1) I don't think it necessary to have a house but maybe at least living by yourself. It doesn't sound like she minds all to much though about your home situation but after you guys are married defiantly at least rent an apartment (or move in with her if she has her own place). Also the right time to propose is when ever you think it's right, spontaneous is good but planing it is alright to. It should just feel right to you.2) The ring is beautiful and if you know she's going to love it then you should get it. When it comes to the ring it's all about what you think she'll be most happy with. I'm sure she won't care about the price tag as much as the thought.

Question : How do I go about getting my engagement ring reset and the side stones changed?
Right now the ring is white gold and center stone is an emerald cut diamond with small trillion cut diamonds on either side. I'd like to change the trillions to baguettes. Do I just take it to any jeweler? Will I be able to apply the trillions (let the jeweler keep them) to the cost of this process? I really have no idea how to go about this. Thanks. This is an example of what I have.http://www.diamondsourceva.com/RingsJewelry/images/Emerald%20Cut%201.15%20ct%200.26%20tcw%20tri llions.JPGThis is an example of what I want.http://allwomenstalk.com/wp-content/uploads/articles/88.jpg

Answer:
In my shop, if your trillions were well cut and looked good internally, we would have applied their wholesale value to the cost of a retail exchange for the bagguettes. What you want is a family jeweler who employees a goldsmith and stone setter and does custom work. Your request is not unusual--in fact they may be able to use your original mounting for part of the remount. In looking at the photos, it appears that the head that the center stone is set in as well as most of the shank of the ring could be used--just new heads for the bagguettes would be put in. That is what we would have done.

Question : How much would it cost to put engagement ring stones into 2 separate rings?
My fiancee proposed to me about 3 months ago. He knew the general style I wanted and did a pretty good job. It is a princess cut diamond (about .33 carats) with 4 square side stones on each side, 1 carat total weight. I liked it for a while, but I have always wanted a solitaire ring. How much would it cost to put the center stone into another ring, and then turn the side stones into the wedding band?

Answer:
you'll have to take it to a jeweler to find out. you;ll have to get a mounting, which is basically just the band, for both. If they are just plain it should cost probably a few hundred per ring. But I don't know what it would cost to actually set it.

Question : How much is the 3 carat platinum tiffany legacy with side stones?
I would like to know what the actual price would be for the ring. But I need the price for having a high quality stone in the ring

Question : is this a good engagement ring?
i have posted that i need six diamonds on the side and then one larger diamond in the center to give my gf her fav. number.... i found this ringhttp://www.danforthdiamond.com/engagement-rings-with-side-stones/7710/Platinum-5.5-mm-Engagement -Ring-with-Channel-Set-Diamonds-(.25-ct.-tw.)/details.htmis this a good ring? i know nothing about diamonds and rings, please help me.... suggest a better one HAS TO BE AROUND $4,000

Answer:
It looks like a lovely ring, and is great that you incorporated her lucky number! It said that the price does not include the main diamond. Before you purchase it, make sure that the colour is no lower than I, it has a good cut and you either want VVS or VS inclusions. (I call them the 3 Cs, Cut, Clarity and Colour) anything else and the quality of the diamond will not look that great. When you go to have a look at it you will notice the colour right away. The clearer the colour the better. (they are judged on a scale of letters A being perfect all the way to Z) If you see a yellow tint, it's no good!VS and VVS inclusions is the clarity of the diamond. VS (very slight) or VVS (very very slight) indicates the markings on the diamond. The inclusions are natural and individual on each diamond and are kind of like their birthmark. (hence how the pink panther diamond got its name) You want as minimal inclusions as possible so it is purer. It is pretty much impossible to get no inclusions, so you look for VVS or VS. You will be able to get a good diamond for the $4k mark so don't settle for anything less than VS with I colour and the cut should enhance its natural sparkle. Check with your gf to see what shape she likes I like the tear shape personally or princess cut (but I like things a little different) Brilliant cut (the round one featured) is pretty safe though. Good luck, I hope I have helped!

Question : Should I go with a Round Cut or Princess Cut for an engagement ring? Also, solitaire or with side stones?
I'm looking into purchasing an engagement ring for my girlfriend. She once mentioned she like the round, but since mentioned princess cut... which way do I go??? Is solitaire the way to go or do I get the side stones? Which style? HELP!!!!

Answer:
This is a tough question to answer, because you're going to get a ton of opinions. Here's mine:Personally, I say a Brilliant (round) cut in a classic 6-prong Tiffany setting. When you think "engagement ring" - what image comes to mind?Nothing says "engagement ring" like a beautifully set solitaire. It's a simple, timeless, elegant classic that will never, ever EVER go out of style. Remember how in the 80s marquise cuts were all the rage? Everyone had one. Now, it's princess cuts. But Asscher cuts are making a comeback. The one stone cut that's never waivered is the brilliant. If you go with a solitaire, I say no side stones on the band. You can always purchase a "jacket" for her with side stones, colored gem stones, etc. to compliment the ring later. The other real advantage to the brilliant cut is the ability to have the stone set in a 6-prong setting, whereas a princess can only be set in a 4-prong. The 2 extra prongs provide an extra "security blanket" with your stone. If a prong should get bent or broken (it happens!), the odds of losing the stone are greater with only 3 prongs securing it vs. 5 prongs.

Question : Buying antique engagement ring and wedding band?
So my boyfriend and I went shopping and we found in an antique store a .78 carat european cut engagement ring with side stones and a matching wedding band. It was made in the 1930's.I love it and it fit perfectly, size 6 all other jewelry stores had rings in size 7 and would have to be refitted. It is way below his budget for an engagement ring and it is the whole engagement and wedding set.He wanted to get it for me right there, but he was concerned that I would have reservations about it being used, or that it might be cursed, or that it was blessed for some other couple in another lifetime.Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not a stone should be brand new to the individual? or does it not matter?I initially asked him for a ring that was in the family, but he has not heirlooms and he figured any heirloom would go to his sister, so we went shopping for ur own.

Answer:
My sister asked for an antique wedding ring and got it. They found a perfect on at a pawn shop. Rings are not cursed, it is what you make of the marriage, not the trapping that go with the wedding. Just put a penny in your shoe for good luck. Also, something borrowed and something blue is the custom. p.s. to make yourself the most elegant bride, make your guest feel important and that you are so glad they came.

Question : I bought a diamond! Questions about the side stones?
for my girlfriends ring. its a princess cut and in the center of the ring. the sides have CZ's that are small baguettes on it and very small rounds on the other side. the jeweler said not to worry about it because they are so small its a lot of labor to do it and with the money you can buy a a lot nicer setting.should i not worry about the cz's in them as they are small?when a jeweler tests your ring for a diamond, he just tests the center stone and not the sides right?because it was a cz ring and i just bought a diamond for the center

Answer:
It's up to you and her whether the ring has all diamonds or a combination of diamonds and CZ, but you do need to be upfront with your significant other about what the stones are. Depending on the quality of the CZ they may not last more than a few years. Low grade CZ clouds over, scratches easily and chips easily, and how will you explain that to her when it will happen (not if, when). A jeweller could decide to test just the centre or the side stones also, it depends on the customer's request. If the customer has reason to suspect the stones are different, then they will most likely request they all be tested. You might want to consider a different ring altogether, this one sounds a little fishy to me. It's very strange for a ring to have CZ side stones and a diamond centre, though you do see it the other way around. And your jeweller is likely right that it would be cheaper to just start with a different setting. I really have no objections to CZ as long as you know exactly what you're getting and know what to expect, which you don't seem to. If you want a ring to last her lifetime, this probably isn't it.

Question : Have you seen any engagement rings with hearts on the side view?
I am looking for a diamond engagement ring with two bands of pave diamonds that come meet in the center to hold the center stone and when looking at the side of this ring the shape of a heart is made from the loop of the two bands. Have you seen anything like this? Or have you seen any diamond rings with hearts in the detailing on the sideview?Any that I would be able to buy?

Question : Solitaire engagement ring or with side accent stones?
I can't decide! I love the classic and elegant look of the solitaire - but something about a solitaire with small accent stones (not the 3 ring - but the small stones in the band) really catches my eye!Which would you prefer? And would you like round or princess cut? I know you guys can't make the decision for me - but I'd really like to know what other people like (and maybe even have)! **Side note - I have fairly small hands and thin fingers - which is why I don't like the way a 3-stone ring looks on me - it seems to take over a bit - although I've seen some absolutely gorgeous ones out there!**Thanks a bunch - the fiance and I will be going shopping at the end of the month so I have a few weeks to decide - and yes I've tried some on already - but it's still so hard to choose! =o)

Answer:
I love a round solitare. Thats my fav always. I have been looking at rings lately incase i want to update and I too like the smaller accent stones. I'll probably stick with the classic though. They just look so nice. I have small hands and thin fingers also.edit...i looked at brwneyes photo. my band has the small stones but my engagement ring does not.
