Question : Has anyone ever sold a diamond solitaire ring to a jeweler?
I want to sell my platinum 1 carat diamond solitaire back to a jeweler... does anyone have any idea how much $ I can expect to get back?
Answer:
I did that after my divorce..with my rings...and not very productive, and i had the papers for the diamonds. The best advice I got was to sell the diamonds loose.. or place an ad and sell them yourself. I ended up placing an ad and selling them myself. Hope that helps. : ) Call around first...save gas!

Question : What do most women prefer solitaire rings or engagement sets?
If you prefer solitaire would go with the round cut diamond or the princess cut?I like this soliataire engagement ring because it is an antique. My fiancee got me a round diamond band because he dint know the etiquette of the rings. Now I don't know what type of ring to get with it. Can I still get a 2 carat Solitaire ring with a round channel diamond band?

It works for me. My husband got me a new solitaire ring after 35 years of marriage. I know young people are sometimes just wearing a solitaire for a wedding ring, but I wanted a band to go with it. Several months later, for Valentine's Day, he bought me a channel diamond band to go with it and everyone thinks it looks great.

I have just got engaged and am now looking for my engagement ring. As I am currently in the US, I was wondering whether diamond solitaires are better value here or in the UK (in general, not just taking exchange rate into account)? I am specifically looking for white gold, princess cut up to half a carat.

Is there a comparison shopping site for UK diamond retailers? If so, the easiest way to decide this would be to plug similar specifications into the UK site and http://www.diamondpriceguru.com/ or a similar US diamond search engine. It checks about 10 different US-based retailers, including some I've seen in other answers, like Amazon.com and Mondera and Blue Nile. So, you tell it what you want, even give it a range of clarity grades, color grades, etc., and it shows you all the matches and each retailer's price for it. It's very handy. I just don't know of one specific to UK retailers. One note, the search engines focus on loose diamonds because the prices are better if you buy the diamond and setting apart and have them combined. Pre-set rings carry more of a markup since the retailer knows the shopper won't pull it apart to inspect the diamond grade. I plugged in "princess cut, up to .5 carat" and and 8,463 diamonds were found. You can narrow it down, of course. I narrowed it to color grades J and higher, with clarity grades VVS2 and higher and it found 2,470 matches. Anyway, it's simple to play around with these online tools, and they do the work for you.Happy hunting!

I agree with the people who said buy the diamond by itself and then the setting. You'll save money that way.A good site for finding the best price on a specific kind of diamond is http://www.diamondpriceguru.com/. You pick a shape, carat weight, clarity grade, color grade, etc. It shows you what is available at Amazon.com, James Allen, Mondera, Blue Nile, Abazias, Diamond.com, etc. So, you can see the prices side-by-side for a specific kind of diamond. From there, you can pick a retailer and browse its settings. You don't have to buy the diamond and setting at the same place, but you can.

Question : What kind of wedding band will go well with a Solitaire princess cut diamond ring?
I really love the solitaire princess cut diamond rings (white gold and possibly one ct.) but when I get married I need a band to go along with it....would a band with diamonds all around it look alright? Or would it be better to go with a plain white gold band?thanks :)

the cost of diamond solitaire ring mainly consisted of : the cost of diamond, but the price for diamonds can be big difference comparing to the clarity/color/cu/carat. for example, you could pay about 1000$ for a solitaire ring with 30 pointers , vvs2, H color. of course the same ring made by Tiffany will be big difference. you have to pay for the big name!i m in china owing one diamond jewlery factory. contact me if u have any questions about it.

Question : How much would it cost to put engagement ring stones into 2 separate rings?
My fiancee proposed to me about 3 months ago. He knew the general style I wanted and did a pretty good job. It is a princess cut diamond (about .33 carats) with 4 square side stones on each side, 1 carat total weight. I liked it for a while, but I have always wanted a solitaire ring. How much would it cost to put the center stone into another ring, and then turn the side stones into the wedding band?

you'll have to take it to a jeweler to find out. you;ll have to get a mounting, which is basically just the band, for both. If they are just plain it should cost probably a few hundred per ring. But I don't know what it would cost to actually set it.
