I've seen women from Asia, Africa and other countries that come here to the US, and they are married but they wear their ring on their right hand instead of their left like the women here in America do. So I was wondering why they do that? Is it culture, religion, or some other reason?

no, women wear these as "solidarity rings" ie, meaning they want to show they're single, and maybe even proud of it. it's not for self confidence, sometimes girlfriends (i mean friends not romantically lol) give them these rings to show friendship.

Wedding rings have no basis in Islam. It is actually an innovation and came from thousands of years ago (the time of the Pharaohs). Wearing an engagement ring on the left finger is related to an old custom of the Greeks who believed that the circulation of blood by the aorta is done through this area. If you are wearing a wedding ring with the belief that this will create strong bonds between you and your spouse, this ring is haraam, because it is an attachment to something for which there is no basis in Islam and which makes no sense.On another note, it is permissible to wear rings for both men and women, just not with that intention. But remember that men cannot wear gold as it is forbidden to them by the Prophet (saw).He (saw) saw a man wearing a ring of gold and he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) took if from his hand and said, “Would any one of you take a coal from the fire and hold it in his hand?” (Narrated by Muslim, al-Libaas wa’l-Zeenah, 3897). I hope inshaa Allah this has clarified you question.
