Questions & Answers
Question : what is the difference between a promise ring and a wedding ring in terms of 3 stone rings?
Lets not discuss the cost. I know that promise rings are generally cheaper but what if we got 2 rings that look similar and both cost $2k but one is marketed as promise ring and the other a wedding ring? are there small differences in the design im not aware of?

Answer:
There are no small differences that you are missing. It is all about the marketing of the rings. And your choice of them is according to what is in your pocket and your bank account. And what your gf/fiancee wants.A promise ring is not a traditional thing, it was never a stair step thing unless circumstances forced it. It can be skipped. In favor of one big honkin' engagement diamond[s], LOL. There really isn't any steps in a relationship where it is now time for the promise ring, now it is time for the engagement ring. Unless your gf/fiancee wants it that way. It is just a new way to market rings, and get you to spend more money. In Rivers day, a promise ring was something to be pittied, poor Rivers, her fiance is poor, and can't afford a better ring, and poor things have to wait to get married. Often promise rings were given when the couple was too young to marry. How things do change in one generation. Generally, a promise ring is smaller and cheaper. That is because it is often given at a time of life where marriage is just a promise, the couple might still be in school, or just starting their work careers, or in the military and maybe stationed apart. Otherwise, a promise might look like a small diamond solitaire, just one stone, but there are no rules about a promise ring. It could be anything that the gentleman can afford. Doesn't even have to be a diamond. It used to be a tiny diamond inside of a heart shape. And not intended to be worn after the engagement ring was given, unless it was on the other hand. And I hear these days the ladies are buying the gentlemen promise rings. A traditional diamond engagement ring has one diamond, but it can have as many as is wanted. A three diamond ring would certainly differentiate it from a single stone promise ring. My Mom's engagement ring was one big stone and a smaller stone on each side of it. She never had a promise ring, her engagement ring was it. Dad did promise to get her a better ring when their circumstances were better and the world was calmer. He did. A traditional wedding ring is is called a band, and that is what it is usually shaped like. It can be plain, or have stones in it, one, or a few, or many. It can be shaped to match and to hook onto the engagement ring. This is the one that is saved, and taken to the church/venue for the wedding, the one the minister blesses. The one that is never taken off except for danger, and cleaning. An engagement diamond does not have to be worn. Want to really be confused? How about an eternity ring? These were marketed some years back as being a gift for a big anniversary, and were diamonds completely around a band. But, some people have this type of ring for a wedding band. I guess they would get bigger diamonds in a bigger band for their anniversary.

Question : Is 16 too young to get promise rings with your long term boyfriend?
I know 16 is young but I have had the same boyfriend forever and we know were going to get married. I know its naive to think that but we really believe we can stay together forever. We want to get promise rings so we both are frequently reminded of each other. but are we too young to make that commitment?

Answer:
Yep especially if one of you is older than the other. Fantascizing gives us all a great deal of pleasure but in reality you two are teenagers who probably think they've found out who they truly are already which probably isn't true. Things change when you become adults one of those things is tastes in partners.

Question : How do Purity/Promise rings work?
I am 15 and I really want a promise/purity ring for myself, to remind myself to stay a virgin and stay abstinence until I am married. I also want a promise ring to remind myself to stay sober, but I have no idea how these things work! Is there supposed to be a ceremony of any kind? Do you just put it on and "make that promise" to yourself? Which finger for these 2 type of promise rings? Are there vows and prayers involved? Someone help me please ;x

Answer:
I got mine a couple months ago at my friend's church retreat. We just had an orientation that told us about the commitment we are about to make. Then we got to make the decision if we wanted to wear one or not. Some of us didn't actually. Wearing the ring isn't just about being abstinent, there's so much more to it. I think a lot of us got overwhelmed with the size of the commitment and decided not to wear one.One of my friend got it from her parents. They just told her about what they expect from her and stuff. I don't think it matters what finger you put it on, but mostly i see people wearing it on their ring finger. I heard your supposed to replace it with your wedding ring (?). Haha idk. But yes, it basically is a promise that you make to yourself. I personally think of it as a promise between me and God. Best of luck!

Question : How do you view promise rings? What is their purpose? ?
I just wanted to know some other people's takes on promise rings. I think they're a sweet idea if you are interested in being in a long term relationship and will not be able to be engaged anytime soon; simply a symbol of love and hope. What do you think?

Answer:
My now Fiance gave me a promise ring after my first year at college. We met in high school and he stayed home and worked. He didn't to the college thing. anyways, we are engaged to be married in 2 weeks and I still wear my promise ring. I just wear it on my right hand now. I wore it on my left hand until I got my engagement ring. I think they are very special when you are ready for a long term relationship, but not yet ready to be engaged.

Question : What do you think about promise rings in a relationship?
What do you think about promise rings in a relationship? It's a teenage relationship, and we're serious about each other. Don't say it's not real love, because you know nothing about our relationship, and that's not what I'm asking.

Answer:
they're cute

Question : How do I "hint" the idea of promise rings to my boyfriend?
I think promise rings would be very beneficial but I don't know how they work (as in going about and getting them). Does the guy ask something or does he just get it or what? How can I hint this to my boyfriend without being obvious?

Answer:
my girlfriend and have promise rings. it was my idea so i can't help there but maybe you can mention how you know someone who got them and how cute you thought it was or tell your friend and have them mention it to him. we just talked about what kind we wanted. we talked about what we liked and what colors we like. for example, we decided they had to match, not be to flashy, and i told her i don't like gold. then we went to different stores and looked at what they had and chose one. it's not like an engagement ring where it has to be a surprise. oh and you wear them on your weeding ring finger.

Question : How do I go about getting promise rings for me and my boyfriend ?
Me and my boyfriend want promise rings . Should I buy both mine and his ? Or just his and wait for him to get me one.Should they match ?Where can I get them? How do I find the perfect one?How cheap do they run? Thanks.

Answer:
i think he should get u one first.. and u get him one.. or he should get both.. my bf gave me one and we never even spoke about it.. but again its something thatu both should know every relationship is different

Answer:

Question : Is it weird for a girl to also exchange promise rings?
My boyfriend and I are going on our one year anniversary. I don't really know what to do or get him... I was thinking something really really meaningful. We were talking about Promise rings and I know he wants to get my one, but I was wondering is it unusual for a girl to give one in return?

Answer:
Not unusual at all ... you're making promises to one another, so you both should be wearing rings to signify it ... I think it's sweet.

Question : Where can I get fairly cheap friendship promise rings?
I want to get my friend and I promise rings since she moved away. I'm only 15, so they need to be pretty cheap. Any ideas where I can get them?

Answer:
You can check out my online store - http://stores.ebay.com/The-Promise-Ring-StoreIt has a large range of promise rings, with prices starting at just $9. I've also included lots of information about the history of promise rings, and some ideas for how to measure the other person’s ring size without them knowing!
