Question : I found a polished gold bangle with an unusual mark inside. It looks like an 'H' but is a square with two dots?
The bangle is a smooth polished finish, inside is where I found the mark, I have been told by three different ppl that it is a real gold piece of jewelry. A friend has two rings, one yellow gold, one white with this mark inside them. But they also have the karat stamp also.Does anyone know what this mark is? I tried wording my search in numerous different ways and still haven't gotten a hit on this mark!! Thank you very much!

Question : how can i get 'ring' stains left by cups/glasses off of a polished granite surface?

Wine will etch the surface of granite and you have to polish it out with a mild abrasive. I got a Best Answer for this once when the lady used T-Cut (motor body restorer) to polish out her rings. It really works.Edit: Citric acid (lemon juice etc) will etch the surface. DO NOT USE!

Question : how can I get rid of water spots on marble tile?
We used marble tile for our kitchen counter top/ after having glasses and wine bottles sitting on it for several hours we now have discolored spots and rings. The spots are under the finish and no amount of polishing etc. gets rid of them. Is there any way to treat them? Do we need to put a sealer on the tile?

I have a marble floor (which had been sealed, too) in an ensuite, and it has been nothing but a problem. Twice now I have had to get professionals in to sand and repolish the water spots. Had I known this floor would be so touchy, I never would have done it. I have since been told that granite would have been the thing to use, and marble should be reserved for walls.This is what the professionals told me about removing water spots on marble: make a paste of a lightly gritty substance, such as baking soda, and LIGHTLY go over the water spot. Be careful, you don't want to make it worse. Then use a polish over it (in my case it was Pledge furniture polish, maybe you have something a bit better for a countertop). Thats it. It should lessen the spot, but probably won't remove it entirely. Also, I was told to regularly Pledge my marble floor to prevent future water spots. Hope this helps.

I just made a silver ring for my girlfriend. Should I polish and shine it to a mirror-like finish? Or should I leave it in a smooth, semi-matte finish? Also, what is the best way to polish it up should I decide to make it mirror-like? I've used steel wool to make it smooth, but I was wondering if there was anything more fine I could use. have a look on a jeweller supply site, they list all sort of polishing rouge. You will have to have a polishing wheel and go through different sorts of rouge, rough to fine.If you girlfriend is into bling, glitzer, sparkly shiny things, I would go for the mirror-like finish. If she is more of a classy, no fuss, industrial design gal, I would go for the matte finish. If you like the size of the stone have it re-set, it really doesn't cost much at all, a good jeweler (not a chain) will even give you credit for the metal. We had my grandmothers diamond used in my ring and with the custom design and additional stones it was very reasonable.Ask around, otherwise the professional appraisal and Ebay auction might be your best bet.

Real silver has a very tiny number carved on it written 925 which states real silver. The stuff you mentioned only differ in the shape and color of the silver. Polished is a bit dark but smooth, Oxidized has some black stuff on the ornament which makes ot loka bit antiqueish and satin finish are the very shiny and bright ones which are often mistaken with white Gold or are used for designs
