ALL pearls you see at every jewelry store including Tiffanys, Mikimoto, Harry Winston, Pearl Paradise, etc, are cultured. Take 'natural pearls' out of the equation as these have not been harvested commercially for nearly 100 years, and a fine natural strand will cost you around $1 million.There are four common varieties of cultured pearls. Three are cultured in saltwater and the fourth (most often the least valuable) is cultured in freshwater.1. Cultured South Sea pearlsSouth Sea pearls are the most valuable of all cultured pearls. They are also the largest. South Sea strands can range in price from the low thousands to more than $1 million.2.
