Questions & Answers
Question : What wedding dress goes with pearl necklace and pearl earrings?
I would like to wear my grandmother's pearls when I get married, but I am having trouble finding a dress that looks good with a strand of pearls. Any advice would be great. Thank you!
Answer:
I think a nice, classic, white wedding dress would look nice with pearls. I think it would be best to look around at different places and try on wedding dresses with the necklace and earrings until you find something that looks good.Good luck and congratulations!

Question : Would a young girl love a pearl necklace as a gift?
This is a single pearl pendant necklace. It's a cultured freshwater pearl about 7mm set below a diamond flower and white gold strand. It's NOT a strand of pearls. I understand some women think they are more classy/old fashion but would a girl around 21 love it as a romantic gesture?
Answer:
Oh. A real pearl. Sure.

Question : How much would REAL pearl earrings and a REAL pearl necklace cost?
I have a pair of real pearl earrings, the backs are 14kt gold. I also have a real pearl necklace with probably about 36-40 pearls on the strand, and a 14kt gold clasp. I am trying to sell them for as much as possible. What is a reasonable asking price for this beautiful *AUTHENTIC* jewelry? I have never worn them so they are in perfect condition.
Answer:
It depends on the size of the pearls and length of the necklace. You could sell your necklace for anywhere from $174-$609! And for your pearl earrings, you also could be making another $50 or more on them. Check out this website for more information on pearl necklaces and earrings http://www.pearlnecklacesource.com/

Question : What distinguishes a good pearl from a bad one?
I want a nice strand of pearls to wear on my wedding, but am fairly clueless as to why there are such differences in prices... can someone tell me what to look for in a pearl necklace, as well as any advice on where to get it?
Answer:
The first and most important factor in determining the value of the strand is understanding the type. This does NOT mean whether or not the pearls are cultured. ALL pearls you see at every jewelry store including Tiffanys, Mikimoto, Harry Winston, Pearl Paradise, etc, are cultured. Take 'natural pearls' out of the equation as these have not been harvested commercially for nearly 100 years, and a fine natural strand will cost you around $1 million. There are four common varieties of cultured pearls. Three are cultured in saltwater and the fourth (most often the least valuable) is cultured in freshwater.1. Cultured South Sea pearlsSouth Sea pearls are the most valuable of all cultured pearls. They are also the largest. South Sea strands can range in price from the low thousands to more than $1 million.2. Cultured Tahitian pearls (aka black South Sea pearls)Tahitian pearls are also large pearls and the second most valuable. But more than for their size they are known for their color. They are produced by the black lip oyster which has a dark, rainbow-like mantle which produces dark-color pearls.2. Cultured akoya pearlsAkoya pearls are the third most valuable and the first to be cultured. They were first cultured by a Mr. Sawville-Kent in Australia, and later cultured by the famous Kokichi Mikimoto. These pearls are generally small but are known for their perfect round shape, bright luster and shine.3. Cultured freshwater pearlsMost often the least valuable of all cultured pearls (except in rare cases such as freshadama gem grade) freshwater pearls are known for being off-round to baroque, and having a dull luster. A strand of freshadama-grade freshwater pearls may, however, be more valuable that a good strand of akoya pearls.Freshwater pearls are the most common, as China produces 1500 metric tons per year - compare that to the 30 tons of cultured akoya produced every year.In your question you asked what will distinguish a good pearl from a bad one. This question is difficult to answer in such a small space as each value factor should be explained and understood. But here are two links that explain it in detail.Understanding Pearl Qualityhttp://www.pearl-guide.com/pearl-quality.shtmlUnderstanding Pearl Gradinghttp://www.pearlparadise.com/pearlgrading.html

Question : I have a double strand richelieu pearl necklace?
I have a double strand richelieu pearl necklace choker C-1575 . I was wondering if anybody knew how much it was worth. I got it from my mother in law and she said she wasn't sure what year it was from, but it's at least 50 years old. If anybody has any information it would be greatly appreciated, every website I've gone on only shows faux pearls. I want to know the real price, not for the faux ones.thank you
Answer:
If you can't find it on any website, take it into a jeweller's shop to be appraised.
