Answer:
I wear them in the middle of my neck or lower. For the tightness - just tie it so that it's comfortable, not so tight that you dont like the way it feels.

Question : whats the correct way of using a choker collar?
adopting a staffy and obviously want to be a responsible owner and train him correctly. i would like to know the most effective and kindest way of correcting any bad behaviour with the choker without hurting him. i understand there is a correct way to use them, is it just a quick tug? sorry if i'm asking what seems to be a stupid question, i've just never used one before and dont want to do it wrong and hurt the dog. thank you all.

there is a wrong way,actually a few wrong ways, one is if the chain is on backwards,it will not loosen when you relax the leash,if this happens,simply take of the collar,and turn it around. The other issue is that a quick 'snap' is needed,not a drag or a long pull,just a quick enuf 'pop' to snap the dog out of his behavior. if he is pulling you while you are walking,use many quick snaps, instead of a long jerk or tug as this will encourage him to pull. also consider a martingale collar, look it up on te Internet,it is half choke and half nylon collar. p.s please don't leave choke on unattended as it may get caught in his crate or an object and he will hang himself.anymore questions,feel free to add me as contact. good luck:)

The collar needs to be high up right behind the ears. Take up the slack until the dog is forced to walk in the heel position. Use quick snap and release of the collar to correct, it is not meant to choke.
