Questions & Answers
Question : What are the top 5 movie theatre chains in the US? and how much do they charge for admission and popcorn?
Looking for the top movie theatres in the US, and how they compare with admission tickets, and popcorn. Thanks.
Answer:
Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_movie_theaters_and_cinema_chainsThe prices all depend on the location...so I don't think you are going to find specifics about that.

Question : Is there nothing left for the complainers to complain about?
Now I have heard everything.News Item: A chain of British movie theatres bans the sale of popcorn because some have complained about its smell. So just when you thought there was nothing left for the complainers to complain about:Secondhand popcorn.*******************************************************What outrageous things have you heard people complain about??
Answer:
They would complain about my squirrel avatar. They would complain about that they have nothing to complain about. They would complain about the complaints department. This is a real killer for me...people waiting in line at the community pantry waiting in line complaining how long it is taking to get their free groceries and how the pantry never seems to have their favorite brand of some item.

Question : Taking holidays out of school?
When I was growing up during Christmas holiday it was fun to have a christmas tree up at school. We'd make paper chains, and popcorn garlands. I have heard over and over that a christmas tree is a pagan symbol and that Christmas as we know it is really an old pagan holiday and has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus. Why then did we take Christmas trees and anything associated w/ Christmas out of the schools? When I lived in chicago as a child, during Christmas/Hannukah (sp?) I will tell you that I made my share of dradles and there was no christmas tree.multicultural religious holiday observance is a great idea. I am being serious by the way.A christmas tree is a religious symbol? I was told it was pagan. C'mon do you really think a tree with lights on it is going to do spiritual (or lack of) damage to anyone?
Answer:
I'm an agnostic and don't like religion being taught in the schools. However, I think it is politcal correctness run amok when they start taking away Christmas trees. It's not like you're making the kids say the Rosary around it so what's the big deal?

Question : Decorating a tree with a nosey Beagle and a curious Toddler?
This is the first year we'll have our Christmas tree in the living room. But with a snoopy Beagle (whose always hungary) and a curious Toddler, I'm not sure what I should do. Obviously lights and garland, I thought about making popcorn chains...but my daughter and the dog are sure to think its a snack for them. Any suggestions? My daughter is 2 1/2 so she does know what "NO" means...of course like all 2 1/2 years olds they don't always listen. Our Beagle still likes to chew on things...and because she's a Beagle, she'd eat almost anything that looks/smells like food.
Answer:
The best thing to do in such a case is to get a smaller tree and put it on a table. The tree doesn't have to be teeny-tiny - most ceiling heights will allow for a 5-foot tree plus 3-foot table. Even if you put plastic/unbreakable decorations on a tree standing on the floor, the beagle will be fully capable of destroying it. You may still want to get some unbreakable ornaments, though, so your little girl can "help" decorate (standing on a suitably sturdy step stool, of course). Also, while "out of sight - out of mind" does apply to some degree, if your dog likes to jump up on furniture, make sure there aren't any chairs or couches near the table with the tree.

Question : Popcorn Stitch or Puff Stitch?
I want to do something different to the edging of the blanket I'm making. Would it be better to do the puff or popcorn stitch? Does it matter or is it based on personal preference. And for either stitch, what is the spacing between the chains? Thanks for all of the help.
Answer:
I think the puff st would be better as the popcorn may be too heavy but as you say, it is my preference. The spacing depends on the previous row. I usually do several patterns to see what looks best. Remember to make the same number on opposite sides and to do extra stitches on the corners.

Question : How come UK cinemas don't offer butter for the popcorn?
The liquid butter that is so delicious in US cineams isn't available in any UK cinema chain I know of. The multiplexes copy a lot of things from the US, so why not this tasty treat? What is it with this American obsession that we have bad teeth? It's not well known over here that Americans feel this way. American teeth look artificial and over worked anyway. Our teeth aren't worse than the rest of Europe. As to the person who has replied 'The one in Telford does. - what cinema is it? is it part of a chain? Or is it independent? I am fairly certain UGC and Odeon do not offer butter.Response to Dirk Diggler - bringing your own butter isn't an option for me as my cinema is a 30 min drive away by which time the butter would have cooled.
Answer:
It's not really butter, they just melt down fat and put it on your popcorn. That's why it tastes so good!

Question : Does anyone have a recipe for cheeese popcorn like the stuff from Garretts downtown Chicago?
There is a popcorn chain in the downtown area of Chicago Ill. that makes a wonderful version of cheese popcorn, there is also another shop on the south west side that has a variety of flavors, does anyone have a recipe that is comparable to either of these shops? My kids love this stuff, but it can get to be quite a bit costly. I believe that I can make it myself if I can only get a good recipe... Please help.
Answer:
Paula Deen did a carmel popcorn that is like Garrets. I went there this summer for the Pampered Chef conference and I was addicted to it. Not sure if this one is like it, but it sounds good.Cheesy PopcornIngredients:1/4 cup Uncooked popcorn kernels1 tablespoon Corn oil1 package Butter Buds Mix, dry1 teaspoon Basil leaves1/2 teaspoon Oregano leaves1/4 cup Grated Parmesan cheese1/8 teaspoon Black pepperDirections:To prepare popcorn, place oil and unpopped corn kernels in popcorn popper. Cover and pop according to manufacturer's directions. Remove popped corn from heat. If using a heavy saucepan or skillet, heat, covered, over medium heat. Shake while corn is popping. If using hot-air popcorn popper, spray popped corn lightly with non-stick cooking spray. Combine warm popcorn with the remaining ingredients in large bowl; toss to mix.

Question : Does anyone else still make construction paper and popcorn chains for the tree with their kids?
We're having a blast this morning while the baby is sleeping. My daughter is learning more of her colors and what simple fun. Sometimes you forget to do this and wished you had, so I'm reminding everyone to get out some paper, scissors, and tape and pop some popcorn, merry christmas! wow, gingerbread men, i'm jealous, gotta check that out. and now i definately have to make more chain to go around the room, thanks.and the snowmen, how cute, i totally forgot about that one, thanks to yall tooand snowflakes, awesome
Answer:
i don't have any kids yet, i will in march 09. I do have a nephew that I consider my own though. We live in southwest GA and we don't have tree farms like up north. We get our regular tree from the house from a local selling christmas trees. We decorate that one with lights and ornaments, bows, and tinsel. But then we go out in the woods and get a real christmas tree. A small cider and place it on our back porch so the reindeer can see it when they are on the roof. We pop popcorn and string it and we also do the construction paper chain. And while we do that, my mother cooks a gingerbread cake and makes hot chocolate. Every year. Nothing ever changes and i wouldn't want it too. Thats the true meaning of Christmas. Spending time with the ones you love and being grateful for everything you have and everyone you have. When my little one grows up to be able to do all im going to do the exact same thing i have done the past years.
