Question : Taking holidays out of school?
When I was growing up during Christmas holiday it was fun to have a christmas tree up at school. We'd make paper chains, and popcorn garlands. I have heard over and over that a christmas tree is a pagan symbol and that Christmas as we know it is really an old pagan holiday and has nothing to do with the birth of Jesus. Why then did we take Christmas trees and anything associated w/ Christmas out of the schools? When I lived in chicago as a child, during Christmas/Hannukah (sp?) I will tell you that I made my share of dradles and there was no christmas tree.multicultural religious holiday observance is a great idea. I am being serious by the way.A christmas tree is a religious symbol? I was told it was pagan. C'mon do you really think a tree with lights on it is going to do spiritual (or lack of) damage to anyone?

Answer:
I'm an agnostic and don't like religion being taught in the schools. However, I think it is politcal correctness run amok when they start taking away Christmas trees. It's not like you're making the kids say the Rosary around it so what's the big deal?

Question : Odeon Cinema Popcorn Box Design?
Hi, i have got to redesign a popcorn box for the Odeon cinema chain for school. Just wondered if anyone had any exciting and new designs? I tried to make one like a directors megaphone but my tutor did not like it so am now having to think of other designs?Any ideas?

Answer:
Stick with the box, create a new design for the box, a popcorn running after a man etc..

Question : How come UK cinemas don't offer butter for the popcorn?
The liquid butter that is so delicious in US cineams isn't available in any UK cinema chain I know of. The multiplexes copy a lot of things from the US, so why not this tasty treat? What is it with this American obsession that we have bad teeth? It's not well known over here that Americans feel this way. American teeth look artificial and over worked anyway. Our teeth aren't worse than the rest of Europe. As to the person who has replied 'The one in Telford does. - what cinema is it? is it part of a chain? Or is it independent? I am fairly certain UGC and Odeon do not offer butter.Response to Dirk Diggler - bringing your own butter isn't an option for me as my cinema is a 30 min drive away by which time the butter would have cooled.

Answer:
It's not really butter, they just melt down fat and put it on your popcorn. That's why it tastes so good!

Question : Popcorn Stitch or Puff Stitch?
I want to do something different to the edging of the blanket I'm making. Would it be better to do the puff or popcorn stitch? Does it matter or is it based on personal preference. And for either stitch, what is the spacing between the chains? Thanks for all of the help.

Answer:
I think the puff st would be better as the popcorn may be too heavy but as you say, it is my preference. The spacing depends on the previous row. I usually do several patterns to see what looks best. Remember to make the same number on opposite sides and to do extra stitches on the corners.

Question : Is there nothing left for the complainers to complain about?
Now I have heard everything.News Item: A chain of British movie theatres bans the sale of popcorn because some have complained about its smell. So just when you thought there was nothing left for the complainers to complain about:Secondhand popcorn.*******************************************************What outrageous things have you heard people complain about??

Answer:
They would complain about my squirrel avatar. They would complain about that they have nothing to complain about. They would complain about the complaints department. This is a real killer for me...people waiting in line at the community pantry waiting in line complaining how long it is taking to get their free groceries and how the pantry never seems to have their favorite brand of some item.

Question : I need some help with a geometry problem: ?
You are making a chain of popcorn to put on your tree. Assume the popcornis approximatrly spherical, and each popped kernel has volume 288(pie!)mm(cubed!) How many pieces of popcorn will you need for a section of chain that is 6cm long?

Answer:
Answer: 5 kernels. How to get there:The formula for the volume of a sphere is 4/3πr³Since we are given the volume, we want to find the radius of the kernel by setting the volume formula equal to the given volume4/3πr³ = 288π mm³r³ = 216 mm³r = 6 mmdiameter = 2r = 2 * 6mm = 12 mmSince we want a chain of 60mm (6cm):60mm/12mm = 5 kernels

Question : Decorating a tree with a nosey Beagle and a curious Toddler?
This is the first year we'll have our Christmas tree in the living room. But with a snoopy Beagle (whose always hungary) and a curious Toddler, I'm not sure what I should do. Obviously lights and garland, I thought about making popcorn chains...but my daughter and the dog are sure to think its a snack for them. Any suggestions? My daughter is 2 1/2 so she does know what "NO" means...of course like all 2 1/2 years olds they don't always listen. Our Beagle still likes to chew on things...and because she's a Beagle, she'd eat almost anything that looks/smells like food.

Answer:
The best thing to do in such a case is to get a smaller tree and put it on a table. The tree doesn't have to be teeny-tiny - most ceiling heights will allow for a 5-foot tree plus 3-foot table. Even if you put plastic/unbreakable decorations on a tree standing on the floor, the beagle will be fully capable of destroying it. You may still want to get some unbreakable ornaments, though, so your little girl can "help" decorate (standing on a suitably sturdy step stool, of course). Also, while "out of sight - out of mind" does apply to some degree, if your dog likes to jump up on furniture, make sure there aren't any chairs or couches near the table with the tree.

Question : Good brand of Brewers Yeast for Popcorn Topping?
I would like to buy some Brewer's yeast to use on top of popcorn. Does anybody know a good brand to choose, or if it's commonly found in most chain grocery stores (Pick N Save, VONS, etc)? Thank you in advance!Oh any recipies tips would be welcomed too :)

Answer:
yeast can be found in your local mark or any chain, its pretty much anywhere that sells flour :D buy the INSTANT kind, its easy to use and you dont have to wait you just mix it with hot water.Brewers yeast is also called "nutritional yeast"as for you recipes, below are some sites that have good tips.i like the 1st link best (kind of complicated but mum makes it really well)also for a LOW CALORIE POPCORN TOPPING Fresh popped popcornBrewers yeastVegisal (this is essentially an oil like animal fat designed for vegetarians with similar flavor and less calories) Sprinkle brewers yeast and vegisal on fresh, warm popped popcorn. Tastes like Parmesan cheese or butter but no calories.http://www.cooks.com/rec/view/0,1725,153167-236205,00.htmlTIP: if you don't mix the yeast with something else it will taste really bad.also on freshly poped popcorn, sprinkle on powdered brewer's yeast for a great flavor. Almost like cheese flavored popcorn! Many prefer to add some salt and granulated garlic as well. Two tablespoons of brewer's yeast on your popcorn adds significant nutrition to your daily diet.

Question : With my 91Buick Century, 131K miles, I started it up and the engine sounded like metal pieces in a hot air?
popcorn machine in park. In reverse sounded like a bicycle chain was going through the engin. In drive everything sounded normal. I pulled out and could not go over 25mph. The transmissions fluid was low. Any suggestions as to the probblem?

Answer:
Sounds like your flywheel.

Question : Why is it Muvico theaters don't offer free refills on large popcorns and cokes?
Why is it all the other chains do but they don't?! That's always pissed me off about Muvico!

Answer:
More money in their pockets
