Question : How much EPA/DHA should I supplement with?
I'm a vegan so obviously there isn't going to be many long-chain omega 3's in my diet; just lots of ALA.So I've started supplementing with 400 mg of DHA and 200 mg of EPA (algae based so still vegan). Is that enough for health or should I take more? Thanks!
Answer:
I hate to tell you this, but if you are taking the ALA there is no need to take the DHA or EPA: your body can very efficiently anabolize (build) the long chain poly-unsaturated fatty acids from the short chain. A tablespoon (10 mls) of flax oil will give you about 7,000 mgs of ALA - which is more than plenty. I'm not one for taking supplements that are over-priced/over-hyped or unnecessary. If you feel the compulsion to stick with the DHA/EPA you would want about 1,000 mg's of EPA a day.

Question : What does the production of Omega-3 do to the environment and wild life?
I've heard that it messes up the food chain and so one when they fish to make omega-3. Is it true? Are there "safe" omega-3 products?
Answer:
Hey!Omega 3 production when using fish is absolutely terrible for the environment. As you're probably aware we as humans are severely depleting fish stocks on this planet and it takes around 6 times the fish to make fish oil and then from that you've got to concentrate it to get the omega 3 EPA and DHA that you want for health. There are two alternatives both of which are more environmentally healthy and arguably better for your health due to lower toxicity. The first is to use a plant based omega 3 such as flax or chia. These are grown in a sustainable way, often organically. The downside of course is that the kind of omega 3 in these plants is omega 3 ALA which your body then has to convert to EPA and DHA. This is at a very low conversion rate. Estimated to be 3-8% depending on the person. The other alternative is to use an algae based supplement.Fish don't make omega 3 EPA and DHA. Rather their bodies accumulate it through the algae which they eat. Further this is done on a farmed scale in a sustainable way with the excess being safely used as a green fertilizer and having unlimited potential for growth. MUCH better for you and the environment (and the fish! LOL).The best brand of this kind of omega 3 is Opti3 as it's quite concentrated but there are others out there; you've just got to look.

Question : Where to buy "Old World Secrets The Omega Project Codes"?
My town's trying trying to ban it, so I'm curious if there are national chains that sell it.I want to read it because people are spazzing about it, but also because banned books are neat collectors items when I get old. ;>They say somebody committed suicide over the book here, so they want it taken off the shelves. I think it's BS, but que sera.
Answer:
Well, conveniently enough a massive spam campaign seemed to begin on Friday the 13th. And now, suddenly, every craigslist in the US and CANADA and some parts of Europe are also getting bombarded. Depending upon whether the area is considered conservative or liberal, the message varies from BURN THIS BOOK to BUY THIS BOOK. Invariably a suicide or death is mentioned in association with someone having read the book, yet I have searched news feeds for the past month in three countries and found no evidence of this. The book WAS for sale on Amazon and you could even pick it up at your friendly neighborhood Target. It is one more in a series of books about Masons and ancient conspiracies and spamming every craigslist RnR is a terrific and free method of PR for a book that is almost certainly a rehash of a whole lot of books that have already been written. There is a video of someone reading the first three pages on YouTube. Go have a look.

Question : Snake and omega chain?
What is the difference? Which one is easier to make? How do I make it? Thanks!<3
Answer:
I buy those. Omega chain seems to be a broader flatter version of a snake chain. I've never heard of a regular person (i.e., not a factory) making those. Go to www.firemountaingems.com to see pictures of both. I don't know if you can make them at home, but check online for tutorials. There seem to be tutorials on just about anything now.

Question : does cod liver oil contain long chain omega-3 fatty acid?
can it improve intelligence of teenagers brain
Answer:
Apparently, cod liver oil is a huge source of Omega-3. But it will also make you smell like, and burp like, and have the taste in your mouth, of a rotten fish. And it lasts all day (at least). They have pills that say they don't have the fishy smell, but I haven't tried 'em. But I do know that those gross cod liver oil capsules make you never ever want to take them again, they're so disgusting.

Question : How far up the food chain are anchovy, sardines and mackerel?
I ask because I've been taking some Omega-3 fish oil and from what I understand, fish that are higher up on the food chain have higher concentrations of mercury in them. The fish oil is made out of anchovy, sardines, and mackerel.
Answer:
Different fish varies, depends on what fish it is. Most fish are carnivores/secondary consumers when they eat smaller fish like shrimp etc. But there are some fish only eat sea weed etc, therefore they are herbivores. The one's you take are secondary consumers, therefore they have high omega 3 levels, as they consume alot of other small fish and plankton etc.
