Questions & Answers
Question : How do you install a chain link fence over concrete?
How do you install a chain link fence over concrete? How do you install a chain link fence over dry concrete. I have been looking for some sort of anchors but with no luck. Is there a different way to do it, besides braking the concrete?

Answer:
The only way I can think of may take a little work. Find a piece of pipe a little bigger than the post cut it about 10 inches long weld a plate on the bottom. Then drill a hole through it into the concrete ( I would use a large bolt) anchor that to the concrete set your post in the "cup" and secure it by drilling a couple of holes through the cup and pipe and bolting it in.Good Luck

Question : Can i make my entire chain link fence electrified by connecting the energizer to a piece of the fence?
I have the electric fence energizer and want to make my chain link electric. Metal is a conductor right don't have to string the whole fence just has to be touching one piece of it. Also can i ground the electric fence with a welding rod. Is this safe or will it like catch on fire?

Answer:
Yes, you can electrify an entire chain link fence, but it will be expensive to do so because it will take hundreds of insulators. It will also be less effective than a regular electric fence because all of that metal will offer a lot of electrical resistance, effectively reducing the "shocking power" of the fence.

Question : Whats the difference between 2-link and 4-link tire chains?
i know 2 links have more chains then 4 links, but why.

Answer:
Its because 2 link provides for a more consistent ride by having more chain on the face of the tire. Therefore, helping to reduce the bumpy ride from being on chain - off chain. 2 link is always recommended for steering tires, since it allows more steering control.

Question : How do I hang a wreath on a chain link fence?
Hello I am wanting to hang a wreath on the gate of my fence which is chain link...I was just wondering if there is a certain way I should do this. I love to decorate but it's kind of hard as a woman to do it on my own correctly. I am just curious if there is certain hardware I need to hang it or anything. Any advice helps!

Answer:
ZIP TIESThey DON'T BREAK in nasty weather, and are not metal like twist ties - which break easily. You can pick them up cheaply at Wal Mart or Home Depot.I use them often for outdoor crafts & other things.

Question : Can you buy lengths of chain link for key chains at local stores (home hardware, home depot, Michaels etc.)?
Interested in making key chains to sell and was just wondering where to buy the chain. Would appreciate any help.

Answer:
home depot

Question : How do I make my chain link fence taller without replacing the existing one?
We just recently bought a house and the yard had a 3ft high chain link fence in it. We have a Golden Retriever and do not want her to get out, plus part of the fence is damaged from a fallen tree. We are having ALOT of trouble finding 3ft high fencing. So, we were thinking of getting 4ft high, but do not want to remove the existing posts. Is there a way to attach something to extend the height? Thanks!

Answer:
Get some post extensions that will fit inside the existing posts (or outside) and weld or drill and bolt them to hold them in place.

Question : What is used other than cubic zirconium to make these chains lik in the link below?
http://local.yahoo.com/info-12384310-national-jewel-ctrgeorgetown-washington?tab=photos#photos i know its cubic zirconium but like what is the metal used and what is used to put them together like what other materials are used period for these chains?

Answer:
If you are actually talking about the chain itself (the metal part), it is probably silver. The pictures state that the items are from Jordon, where a lot of silver items are made. If you were going to use a metal that is less expensive than silver, there is a product called "nickel silver," which is actually a blend of nickel, copper, and sometimes zinc (no silver). Some inexpensive jewelry is made with nickel silver directly; in silver-plated items, the base can be nickel silver, with the electroplating on top of that. This article explains more:http://www.squidoo.com/nickelinjewelryYou can purchase nickel silver in wire and plates in lots of places, even online at Amazon:http://www.squidoo.com/nickelinjewelryThe chain is not made from cubic zirconium. Cubic zirconium is a crystal, not a metal that you would use in a chain. It is used as a cheaper substitute for diamonds. Other substitutes are Zircon (not the same thing as cubic zirconium) or rhinestones.http://www.moissanite.net/diamond-substitutes.html

Question : how do I end my chain link fence in a different place?
I have a 4' chain link fence around my back yard. I want to put up just a partial privacy fence. My neighbors patio and mine are even with each other and I just want a little privacy when I go outside. Several people have told me to just put the privacy fence behind the chainlink, but I think that would look bad. I was thinking I could just end the chain link in a different spot and then build the privacy fence, but how do I do that?? Or does anyone have any advice on a different way to do this?

Answer:
Depending on how much you shorten the fence this is an ambitious project. Bolt cutters will cut the can in fence. Move the end cap to replace the center type at the new place you end the fence. You can rent a stretcher at your local rental store or perhaps the local chain link store can rent or loan you one. (Takes some muscle.) Other then taking out the left over post, (usually sank in cement and very heavy) you should be good to go with that. depending on your muscle factor you might want a wheel barrel to move the post you take out.

Question : How to free a bicycle chain link that became tight in the process of pressing in the link pin.?
When you take a bicycle chain apart, you use a tool to press the center pin almost all the way out. Then when you reassemble it, you press it back together. But I have found that the reassembled link is usually very stiff: not very flexible at all. Am I missing something in my technique? Is there a way to 'decompress' the newly assembled link? Many thanks for any suggestions .....

Question : Can I use some leftover chain link fence to reinforce concrete I will put down for a new driveway?
I know steel is best, but is it ok to use chain link? I think it is some kind of aluminum or stainless steel alloy maybe?

Answer:
Actually that would work well. I once did a job where the homeowner decided to throw his old metal hangers in a sidewalk. I would not like to be the one to tear it out with chain link fence in it but if it was my driveway I would use it.
