I have a 14 kt. gold 18 inch herringbone chain and a14 kt. gold 9 1/4 inch ankle bracelet that I haven't worn in years and was wanting to know what way would I make the most money with. Depends if they are white gold or yellow gold and the quality of the pieces. Where did you originally purchase them? Yellow gold chains will be pretty much worthless or near worthless. Most people prefer white gold these days. Your best bet would be to see how much the jewelry store would be willling to give you for them and also check local pawn shops. Don't expect to get much. I would be shocked if you got $50 for both. If noone will give you a reasonable amount then you should browse ebay and see how much similar items are selling for on there. Also, browse online jewelry stores and see how much similar items are selling for brand new.

The price would depend on a few things : 1 - the material : gold overlay on sterling silver would be the cheapest. Those can go from like $30 if you find a good place. For real gold (10k or 14k), continue reading below. Some places also sell reversible 2-toned herringbones where it'll be silver on one side and gold on the other, or yellow gold on one side and white on the other. The quality of material will stretch your price up by hundreds of dollars. 2 - the width : they're typically measured in mm . obviously the thinner the cheaper. 10k or 14k real gold herringbones with a width of 1.5 to 3mm you can easily get for about $200. If you look hard enough, you might be able to find a 4 for that price as well. As for 6mm and above, your looking at a $450-600 range, at least.3 - the location : the prices i'm giving you are from online shops. If you're looking to buy one from like a jewelry store, you're looking at starting at $600 for the thinner ones, and climbing up into the thousands for the thicker ones.
