Questions & Answers
Question : Is 14k gold on .925 sterling silver good, or cheap rubbish? Links inside?
I am looking for a jesus peice pendant or chain and pendant set. I don't want to spend a few thousand on real gold and diamonds, so what's the nearest best thing? I don't want real cheap plastic so I'm prepared to spend a couple+ hundred dollars. In the jewelry world, is .925 sterling silver with 14k gold plating on top of it viewed as cheap rubbish? The reason I ask is because I have found a few things like this below however I'd prefer an expert opinion. I really don't want to spend a few thousand so I'm looking for something a step down or two from that.Here:http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Gold-Silver-Jesus-Face-Pendant-Franco-Chain-/390349797121?pt=L H_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ae2a93701#ht_3316wt_1274http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Gold-Silver-Jesus-Fa ce-Pendant-Franco-Chain-/390099837128?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5ad3c320c8#ht_3239wt_1274I was also wondering about the price difference (I shall email the seller), because they look the same pretty much, except for the weight...Thanks in advanced
Answer:
If you read down the listing, (the first one), you will see where they say: "As we plate on an individual basis to ensure the freshest coat of gold possible". This should tell you right away that this gold plated stuff is going to wear off sooner or later. Probably sooner. At best you have around $60 worth of silver, (that's if the chain is also made of silver), and .40 cents worth of gold. 62 grams is just over two ounces. That's for the heavy one. Cut that in half for the light one.Since this is jewelery it's worth what you are willing to pay for it. Don't expect to ever get your money back out of it if you ever decide to sell it.

Question : i wanna buy a white gold franco chain but need help in identifying if the chain is real white gold...help..?
i wanna buy a white gold franco chain but need help in identifying if the chain is real white gold...help..?
Answer:
First of all, under law all precious metal must be marked accordingly, the marking is usually on the clasp. If not, Get something that you know for sure it's white gold and scratch an unnoticeable part agains the back of a white tile (unglazed side), then scratch the chain on it too. Compare the olor.

Question : Do you think the Penn State scandal is only getting worse by the minute?
Franco Harris gets fired for making comments in support for Joe Paterno.http://content.usatoday.com/communities/campusrivalry/post/2011/11/franco-harris-fired-track -casino-support-joe-paterno-penn-state/1Personally, it all looks like damage control and Paterno should have been fired on the one hand. But to just single him out in the beginning makes it look like the University just used him for a scapegoat and doesn't want things investigated farther up the chain of command.
Answer:
Yes, it is getting worse by the minute. No, Paterno is not being used as a scapegoat. Living here in Pittsburgh, I'm pretty familiar with Penn State, their fans, their program, etc. Paterno claiming that in 2002, he reported the incident to his superiors is as disingenuous as one can get. The fact is that Joe Paterno ran, not only the football program, but basically the whole athletic department up at Happy Valley. For the past several decades, Paterno didn't have a boss in the athletic department, he WAS the boss. Look...a few years back, the AD went to Paterno's house to try to talk him into stepping down, and Paterno told him to get off his lawn. So, for JoPa to try to hide behind this "chain of command" thing now really insults my intelligence. Paterno was the top of the chain of command, and everybody knew it.As far as involving the police, I really don't know how much good that would have done. The Pennsylvania State University and the Borough of State College have such an incestuous relationship (let's face it...without Penn State, State College becomes Bellefonte or Tyrone, Pa. Ever heard of either of those towns?). I'd like to think that the police there would do their jobs and put the welfare of the victims first, and not the well-being of Joe Paterno and the Penn State Athletic Department, but I really couldn't, with complete confidence, say that they would.Look, there was evidence brought to the Center County DA back in the 90's, and from all indications, he performed a sort of "wink wink" investigation before concluding that there were no grounds for charges to be brought against anybody. It's interesting that on April 15, 2005, this man...Ray Gricar was his name...disappeared, never to be seen again. He was declared legally dead on July 25 of this year. I don't think that the university had anything to do with his disappearance (although at this point, I guess anything is possible, right). I believe the man committed suicide, or possibly arranged for someone to kill him and dispose of the body, because he knew what was going on, did nothing to stop it, and couldn't live with that knowledge anymore.I could go on, and on, and on about all the different facets of this case, and the past and ongoing investigations, but you get the idea. The whole thing sickens me, and don't be surprised if it gets a lot worse as more information comes out.Yes, Jerry Sandusky was the predator here, but make no mistake about it, Joe Paterno was most definitely an enabler in this case. And believe me, Paterno knew everything that was going on in and around his program...and I mean everything. He may not legally responsible, but he certainly neglected a moral responsibility to do the right thing, placing the interests of the Penn State Nittany Lions as his top priority. And for that, he most certainly deserved to be fired.

Answer:
first, i agree with rachel. is there a question here? or, are you just raging?second, why was this posted in the 'weather' category?third, the nobel prize(s) are awarded by a christian (as in evolved from a judeo-christian origin) committee of people from a christian nation. altho they do / are willing to award to anyone in the world, regardless of race, color, creed, political affiliation, etc. there is a natural inclination to overlook anyone from the islamic - and to a certain extent, sikh, buddhist, shinto, taoist, etc. - religions. it's probably not a concious or acknowledged bias, but it probably exists.(threat of terrorist activity has become a very real and significant factor in modern times!)so, altho there may have been some muslim candidates (or even some who weren't nominated / considered because of their religion) they were most likely not recipients because of this innate fear of them and other followers of their religion.sad - but most likely true.-pam

Question : GH: Johnny's "bottom of the food chain" guys beat up Ethan and they know about the Balkan. Do you think?
Anthony Zacchara is the Balkan working from prison? Or, do you think Franco is Anthony's long lost son working for Anthony?
Answer:
I actually did not consider Anthony as the Balkan before, but that's a good theory. I thought the Balkan was either Jerry or Franco.

Answer:
I agree fully, and those who counter with the great advances brought to us by Islamic-Arab civilization overlook that most of those accomplishments were in the distant past while Jews are widely represented in the sciences, medicine, engineering, etc. All fields that help advance mankind. I also find it distasteful when so-called "progressives" condemn Israel but turn a blind eye to the many nations guilty of human rights' abuses surrounding Israel. Sure, Israel should be exposed when it does wrong, but an inordinate amount of attention is focused on that nation. I do support an independent, sovereign Palestinian state, but I fear that even with enormous amounts of aid from the US, it will progress little whereas Israel will continue to advance well into the 21st century.
