Question : where can i find loose cut gemstones?
i'd really like to find a light pink sapphire (ascher cut) for a reasonable priceonline, please

Answer:
Check out eBay and Fire Mtn. Fire Mtn is known for their really good bargains, but they also have good quality gems as well. Check and see. I don't shop that section of Fire Mtn, but it won't take you long to look. They have a good searchbox insite.

Question : What are the main differences between man made sapphires and natural ones?
I am looking into getting a loose sapphire gemstone - round cut and about 1 to 1.5 carats. It is more important to me to get the size and COLOR I want than the prestige of it being "natural." I don't have a large budget for the stone (only a couple hundred dollars at most), which is the main reason why I can't just go out and buy a dark blue natural sapphire. My question is what are the major differences between natural and man made sapphires (besides price) - what are the pros and cons of both. I am worried about one being more breakable than the other or less scratch resistant or something. Also, does anyone know if some good websites for sapphires? I have a large list of web sites that sell natural ones, but I haven't found any web sites that sell man made ones (are man made sapphires called something special? - and please don't be a smartass and say "colored crystal" or "cubic zirconium".Thank you!I meant zirconia, sorry - typo durring the spell checkOr would a man made/lab sapphire just be a simple cubic zirconia???

Answer:
Synthetic sapphires are lab-created either by flame fusion method or flux-melt method or less commonly, by hydrothermal method. They have the same physical, optical and chemical properties as natural sapphires. Some lab-created sapphires may be included, although most are clean. Since they have the same properties as naturals, they will not scratch or chip more easily than a natural stone. Prices of synthetic sapphires depend on the method of synthesis used. In general, FF sapphires are mouch more affordable than FM sapphires. (Depending on the quality and color, FF's can cost as little as a few cents a carat and FM's can cost over a hundred a carat.) I found a 3ct sapphire (allegedly hydrothermal) on Ebay for 0.99cts! Here's the link http://cgi.ebay.com/16-HUGE-STUNNING-SYNTHETIC-HYDROTHERMAL-SAPPHIRE-3-CTS_W0QQitemZ270022323619QQih Z017QQcategoryZ282QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemAs a gemstone enthusiast and a gemologist, my advice is to buy natural! There is just NO comparision. Why buy a cold, clinical man-made substitute when you can own a rare stone made by mother earth and enjoy all the romance, mystery and adventure that comes with it?Good blue sapphires are a pure saturated blue or violet-blue with a even tone. If clean and well-cut, these will fetch a premium in the market and can cost a bomb! However, lighter blue sapphires can be just as lovely, can be lively and clean, and best of all - will fit into your budget quite nicely.BTW, natural sapphires aren't just blue! They come in almost every color of the rainbow. If a good stone in the blue variety is beyond your budget, why not opt for an equally pretty pink, orange, yellow, purple or violet? There is even a rare color-changing variety!

Question : i have a problem on ebay anyone what to help me do the right thing?
Below is the description of the item i sold... UP FOR AUCTION IS THIS LOT OF LOOSE GEMSTONES ALL DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES.I GET THE STONES THAT MY SUPPLIER POPS OUT OF RINGS NECKLACES EARRINGS BEFORE SCRAPING THE GOLD.MOST OF THE WHITE STONES LOOK TO BE DIAMONDS BUT I DON'T HAVE A TESTER SO I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE."LOOKS TO BE" RUBIES DIAMONDS GARNETS SAPPHIRES EMERALDS AQUAMARINE BLUE STAR SAPPHIRE TOPAZ OTHER THEN THAT I HAVE KNOW IDEA,YOUR GUESS WOULD BE AS GOOD AS MINE,OR BETTER?((((((""I'M NOT A GEMOLOGIST""":-)))))) I COMBINED SHIPPING FOR FREE.. I SHIP PRIORITY MAIL WITH DELIVERY CONFIRMATION FOR MY SECURITY AS A SELLER AND YOURS AS A BUYER.I THANK YOU SO MUCH AND HAPPY BIDDING!Check out my other items! This is the email i got back from the buyer..."Most of these are fake I do not wish to keep them I would like to send them back."Now i think i was very fair in my description and that i was unclear.Im scared to get bad feed back from him and i don't know what to wright him.

Answer:
Refund the buyer's money. You may think that you were fair in your description that you were "unclear," and that you weren't a gemologist, but it is very bad practice to sell something on eBay when you don't know what they are, even if you say so. For the sake of your feedback, apologize to the buyer and refund his money. Then, take the stones to a jeweler and get them assessed. I would also suggest that you not word your eBay ad with all caps -- it looks very unprofessional and like you are a hawkster yelling.

Question : Where can I sell loose gemstones?
I have a collection of around 150+ gemstones I would like to sell. Most are natural with some created. Emeralds, ruby, tanzanite, amathyst, sapphire, and more! I wouldn't mind selling in bulk for wholesale. 1000+ caratsCollected them personally from Europe and Asia.I know you can sell them on Ebay...duh. I was looking for a little bit more specific of places to sell them.

Answer:
jeweler

Question : How can I best go about selling a large amount of new fine jewelry, meant for a store that never opened?
I was left a large amount of jewelry and loose stones that was originally supposed to be the inventory for a new jewelry store. I'm overwhelmed by the amount and value of these items. Please don't say to go to eBay; it makes my head spin! The eBay 'sellers' take 30% or more and don't like to sell jewelry anyway. I'm responsible for handling this wisely but I don't feel very wise. There are diamond rings, bracelets, earrings, watches, etc. plus more gemstones than I can name in addition to the more common ones, like ruby, sapphire, emerald, etc. I know a lot of items are rare. I thought I should look for someone who wants to open a store but I don't know where to look or who to trust. Does anyone have experience in this area? Your advice will be welcome and very much appreciated. This has been stressing me so much for almost six months and now "the natives are getting restless." Please help! Thank You in advance...

Answer:
You might try finding someone looking to open a store as you suggest doing. They are not likely to pay what you think the value is as they will have to make a profit when they sell. If the items sell for what they are worth and were purchased at reasonable wholesale price, even giving 30% to an eBay seller should give you some profit. There are always pawn shops but they too are looking to make a profit and are usually shopped at by individuals looking for a good deal so again, you are not going to come out ahead of an eBay seller. You can always learn how to sell on eBay and market the items yourself. Hopefully you have the appropriate credentials to accuratly appraise the items or they have come with appraisals done by a qualified agency.

Answer:
Precious gems are sold in a VERY competitive marketplace. Your best bet is to seek employment with a recognized gemstone wholesaler and learn the business from the inside. You will expand your network before having to invest heavily in your own marketing program. And... you will make many fewer mistakes going forward!!
