Answer:
not overly expensive. its one of the rarer gems and its very pretty, not in the ruby/sapphire league or anything but then again you don't pay big money for it either.

Question : What is the difference between Imperial Morganite and Morganite?
What is the difference between Imperial Morganite and Morganite?

Answer:
Morganite is the pink variety of beryl, named after famous American banker and gemstone enthusiast John Pierpont Morgan. Imperial morganite is the trade (brand) name used to describe vibrant purplish red color morganite from MozambiqueThe difference is in the color and marketing technique, which is very common in the gem trade ( using names like imperial topaz, pigeon blood ruby, etc)An example of what can be called imperial morganite: http://www.icgems.com/gemstones/detail/?/details/imperial_morganite/mrgs0075/&1244716636

Question : How rare are Tourmaline, Kunzite, Morganite and Spinel?
I'm thinking of using one of these gems for an engagement ring..but i dont want something that isn't "special"

Answer:
All very good options! Keep in mind I'm no expert, the below is just my experience as a consumer, one that trys to stay informed...Tourmaline is very common. It is October's birthstone and you can purchase it at just about any jewelry retailer. If you want something rare, tourmaline isn't it, but it's still a very special stone. You might be interested in watermelon tourmaline which is pink and green and very different. You can find it here: http://www.gemselect.com/group/gemselect.php?x_ByType=onI've never noted Kunzite in store, probably just because the demand isn't very high, it's just not a well-known stone, but you can order it here: http://www.gemselect.com/group/gemselect.php?x_ByType=onWhile uncommon, I don't think it's exactly rare. Morganite is a type of beryl, sometimes called pink beryl. Beryl is quite common, pink beryl is less common. You can find information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BerylYou can order it here: http://www.gemselect.com/group/gemselect.php?x_ByType=onSpinel is quite common in nature, and you will find it in stores, more people have likely heard of it than the former two. You can order it here: http://www.gemselect.com/group/gemselect.php?x_ByType=onWhile these stones aren't exactly rare in the Earth, they're rare in society where few engagement rings feature these stones and most haven't even heard of them. They're all very special stones, but it all depends on how special they are to you.

Question : what is your favorite gem stone or rock?
i love lepidolite, celestite, morganite and rose quartz. i also adore amythyst and jade.....good stuff...so many to add to my list..anybody else out there like rocks?

Answer:
Peridot is the gem quality variety of forsterite olivine. It is bright yellow-green in color, and has a hardness of 6.5 on Mohs scale. The chemical composition of peridot is (Mg, Fe)2SiO4. Peridot is one of the few gemstones that come in only one color. The depth of green depends on how much iron is contained in the crystal structure, and varies from yellow-green to olive to brownish green. Peridot is also often referred to as "poor man's emerald". Olivine is a very abundant mineral, but gem quality peridot is rather rare. Peridot crystals have been collected from iron-nickel meteorites.Peridot is found in Arizona, Hawaii, Nevada, and New Mexico, in the US, and in Australia, Brazil, China, Kenya, Mexico, Myanmar (Burma), Norway, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania. Peridot of high quality is commercially mined in the eastern lava fields of Saudi Arabia. The largest cut peridot is a 310 carat (62 g) specimen in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C.. A special variety of peridot from Pakistan is known as "Cashmere" peridot. Due to the large size of the rough stones found there, cutters have successfully created faceted stones of over 100 carats (20 g) from the rough gems of this area.It is the birthstone for the month of August, and my birthday is in August, too. According to folklore, the peridot will bring its wearer success, peace, and good luck. Peridot has been found in Egyptian jewellery from the early second millennium BCE and was mined from the volcanic island of Zebirget, or St. Johns Island, in the Red Sea. Native Hawaiians referred to peridot crystals as the tears of Pele, their goddess of fire.TO SEE A PICTURE:http://www.gemsuite.com/picture/c_peridot.jpgTiger's eye (also Tigers eye, Tiger eye) is a chatoyant gemstone that is usually yellow- to red-brown, with a silky luster. It is a fibrous silicified crocidolite (blue asbestos), a classic example of pseudomorphous replacement. An incompletely silicified blue variant is called Hawk's eye. A member of the quartz group, its physical and optical properties are identical or very near to those of single-crystal quartz. The gems are usually cut en cabochon in order to best display their chatoyancy. Red stones are brought about through gentle heat treatment. Honey-coloured stones have been used to imitate the much higher valued cat's eye chrysoberyl (cymophane), but the overall effect is unconvincing. Artificial fibreoptic glass is a common imitation of tiger's eye, and is produced in a wide range of colours.TO SEE A PICTURE:http://www.berknerdesigns.com/gifs/TigersEye.jpg

Question : Fun Question-If You Couldn't Have a Diamond, What Gem Would Sit In Your Engagement Ring?
Let's say that diamonds were totally unavailable and you had no choice but to select another stone...what would it be? There are SO many out there, from the well known emerald, ruby, sapphire, topaz, etc to the rare and exotics such as tanzanite, tourmaline, labradorite, apatite, iolite, chrome diopside, prasiolite, alexandrite, morganite ( a spectacular pale peachy-pink) Many well known stones such as citrine and garnets come in different colors too...and then some.like sapphires and topaz, come in white or colorless and are exellent diamond subtitutions....So if you weren't able to have a diamond engagement ring, what stone would you select...me? I'd go with the garnet hands down because it's my husband's birthstone, in the familiar deep red color....infact he's getting me a 3ct oval garnet encircled with champagne diamonds and set in 18 kt gold for a B.D present (he thinks it's funny because my BD stone is a peridot, and I rather have his BD stone instead).....I just might wear that one more than any other ring he's bought me, save for my wedding band.(But it doesn't stop me from collecting & wearing other gemstones...lol)What about you?all these TD's? Must be the Diamond Nazi sent by De Beers lol......

Answer:
Aquamarine! It's actually the stone I want, as I'm not much for diamonds (too pricey for me). I love garnets, but I look better in cool colors, and wear a lot of blue.My other favorite is amber, but it's too soft for daily wear.EDITE: I agree, Garnet...how do you thumbs-down a hypothetical preference on something as generally silly and fun as this???
