Question : Does anyone know where I can have appraised and sell loose gemstones?
I have a bunch of loose rubies, emeralds, and saphirres and other stones that I am not using anymore. Does anyone know where I can appraise and sell them? Also, I live near Houma, if that helps any. Please, I already know about ebay, so no ebay responses. What I need in particular is a place that can appraise loose gemstones, preferably someone certified with GIA, and then somewhere locally that I can sell them. Thanks
Answer:
try looking up the american society of appraisers to locate one near you. There is also louisiana coins and gems that do appraisals.

Question : What sells better "loose" gemstones, or gemstones in jewelry?
I bought a lot of loose gemstones included in it was a 2.5ct yellow sapphire. My question is how can i turn around and sell these. Sell them individually and try to make a profit, or possibly put them in differnt settings like pendants and earings and se them. Which has a higher market value? and How is the best way to sell it?

Question : I would like to sell loose gemstones, does anyone have any suggestions of how to sell them or who would buy?
I live in Missouri and I didn't know if jewelers typically buy loose gemstones from individuals.
Answer:
Well, that is a difficult question. I would say, it all depends on the gemstones that you have. Many local jewelers are not always familiar with the world of colored gemstones. Diamonds are their mainstream of profit. The thing is, a local jeweler is looking to make a profit from whatever someone would like to sell them. It does not matter how much the particular gemstone in question is worth, but what they can turn around and sell it for. Keep that in mind. A better bet is to post your knowledge of your pieces in a private ad, along with references and try to sell that way. Craigslist is a good option...Hope that helps....

Question : Where is the best place to buy loose gemstones?
I'm looking for a loose cut or rough peridot for my girlfriend's 21st birthday. I want it to be good quality and/or large. I am willing to spend up to 500$ on it. I am in Pennsylvania, Lehigh county. I was thinking any legitimate website or maybe some sort of jewelry store? She prefers the more lime-green peridot so i'm thinking Arizona or Burma would probably be the best source.
Answer:
How about the Jewelry Exchange? I don't know where it is, but I see ads for it all of the time- somewhere around Philly, I think. They claim to be unbeatable. Or Steven Singer (though I don't believe they have loose gemstones), but they have an awesome place & beer if you are shopping there....

Question : Where can I find a place in Arizona buying loose gemstones?
I have a lot of loose gemstones that i found when I moved into this house and I need to find a place to sell them now.The Pawn Shop and a lot of other jewelery places don't take loose stones so if you could tell me of a place you might know that does, that would be amazingI have about 12 little stones, dunno what they are but I know they're real cuz the dude at the Pawn Shop told me haha but he couldn't buy it.Thanks :)
Answer:
There are a couple of big gemshows in Arizona usually held in the beginning of the year (so sorry looks like you may have to wait until early 2010).There is a link below for one in Tucson. There is also one in the appropriately named Quartzite, Arizona (near Blythe) that is pretty large. See the 2nd link. Most likely I am guessing you live in or near Phoenix so you are in for a drive either way, but Arizona has got great landscapes so it might be a fun road trip.

Question : Where in central New Jersey can I sell my loose gemstones for cash?
I went to a cash for gold place, and got some money for the gold, but they gave me back the gemstones because they were not certified to evaluate and pay for them. They are in good condition and I have some ones I think may be worth something. I need an actual store, not an online place.
Answer:
Try a jewelry store. They might be able to buy them from you. If they can't or won't, ask them for the name of a place that will.

Question : Where can I buy real, loose gemstones?
I don't know of any website or store where I can buy them loose and most websites might be scams so if anyone knows of a place where I can find real gemstones, please let me know.Oh, ofcourse I know they will be expensive, but it's worth it because I love them and I love getting creative and making my own jewelry with real gemstones, it brings out the creative side of me. ;)
Answer:
You can go to any gemstone shop in your area. Agreed, you are going to get ripped off at many online stores. Go to a physical store where you can actually see the stones, and talk to the salespeople. You know, of course, that real gemstones are quite expensive? That is why they are called "gem" stones. Ask any hobbyist and they can give you the names of some some good suppliers.

Question : What is the best way to sell loose colored gemstones?
I recently inherited some loose colored gemstones as part of my late father's estate. I don't know much about gemstones but I have all the original documentation for the stones showing what they are and how much was paid for them. Absent posting auctions on ebay what is the best way to sell them for close to what was paid for them?
Answer:
Perhaps there is a jeweler in your town that is willing to let you sell them on consignment? Worth a try....

Question : I need a reputable source in New York City to sell some loose gemstones?
I have some loose gemstones, such as an imperial topaz, several tanzanite stones, an imperfect diamond and others that I would like to sell while visiting NYC in April. I also have several jewelry items.
Answer:
do to the diamond district in mid town..its about 46th street and fifth. you'll find dealers there that only deal with one type of gem stones or just a few of the same types. just walk around and ask in different stores and remmber they love to haggle.
