Hello Everyone,I am looking for a trustworthy& competitive loose gemstones source in either Jaipur or Bangkok.I am looking to buy semi precious stones in cabochons, cut stones & briolets acorss a good variety of the same.Any inputs and advise on which one of the above mentioned cities are a better bet would also be appreciated. Many thanks for your help in advance,Sincerely,Navin
Answer:
you might be able to get some information from Steve Bennett who owns & operates Gems Tv. he has his jewellery made in Jaipur and in Thailand....so he might be able to advise you. he also goes directly to the Mines & buys his own gems and then has beautiful jewellery made & sold on tv. it really is nice stuff!!Gems tv also have a loose gemstone section...not sure of the prices. here is a link to it - and i am sure there will be a 'contact us' section there. really nice people..might offer you some help.http://www.gems.tv/

Question : I need a reputable source in New York City to sell some loose gemstones?
I have some loose gemstones, such as an imperial topaz, several tanzanite stones, an imperfect diamond and others that I would like to sell while visiting NYC in April. I also have several jewelry items.
Answer:
do to the diamond district in mid town..its about 46th street and fifth. you'll find dealers there that only deal with one type of gem stones or just a few of the same types. just walk around and ask in different stores and remmber they love to haggle.

Question : Where can I find a place in Arizona buying loose gemstones?
I have a lot of loose gemstones that i found when I moved into this house and I need to find a place to sell them now.The Pawn Shop and a lot of other jewelery places don't take loose stones so if you could tell me of a place you might know that does, that would be amazingI have about 12 little stones, dunno what they are but I know they're real cuz the dude at the Pawn Shop told me haha but he couldn't buy it.Thanks :)
Answer:
There are a couple of big gemshows in Arizona usually held in the beginning of the year (so sorry looks like you may have to wait until early 2010).There is a link below for one in Tucson. There is also one in the appropriately named Quartzite, Arizona (near Blythe) that is pretty large. See the 2nd link. Most likely I am guessing you live in or near Phoenix so you are in for a drive either way, but Arizona has got great landscapes so it might be a fun road trip.

Question : where can i go to find someone to buy loose gemstones?
I have a small collection of various loose gemstones that i would like to sell and would like to know where to go to sell them. my collection includes amethyst. lab created alexandrite, tanzanite, emeralds, opal, topaz, ect.
Answer:
A lot depends on whether you're expecting retail or wholesale prices, or something in between. Also, a lot depends on the quality and cut of the stones as well as their size. How about advertising on Craig's List? You might, before you seriously try to sell them, ask a jeweler in the area for an estimate of the value of each, wholesale as well as retail, along with the size and description of the cut of each. You'll want an estimate of the jeweler's charge for the information you need up front. He/she won't do it for free. One major thing to remember is that loose stone, natural or man made, aren't nearly as valuable as set stones. The mountings are frequently what make the stones and the value of same to soar. It would be very helpful to have the info I'm mentioning on the stones before you get seriously involved in trying to sell them.I hope this helps. I made and sold my handcrafted jewelry for a number of years. I wish you luck.

Question : Is there a cheap way to idenify loose gemstones?
I have a BUNCH of loose gemstones that I have received and I have no idea how to go about identifying them without paying big bucks. The books and sites that I have found suggest using expensive equipment, which I cannot afford. Is there a good book/s that will help a novice identify stones or any where or way I might be able to identify these without breaking the bank??
Answer:
If you want to simply identify what gemstones do you have ( stones varieties, names) and you don't want to spent weeks reading books then your best move will be to visit your local gemdealer and pay him some small fee for reviewing your collection. Do not try jewellers or diamond dealers, because they don't know much about colour stones. You can also visit local GIA campus and ask students to help you. They should be glad to practice with your gemstones , especially if they doing identification course. If you want to check whenever your gemstones are natural ( gemstone identification), then your only option is to use gem lab and pay for the identification reports. Depending of the lab, stone size and type of report it will cost you betwen 15 USD to 150 USD per gemstone.Below links to some gem labs:GIA < http://www.gia.edu/ > ( Gem lab and campus in USA)Gemlab < http://www.gemlab.net/ > ( Gem lab in Liechtenstein) LGL < http://www.lglab.com/ > ( Gem lab in USA)GemA < http://www.gem-a.info/ > ( Gem lab in UK)AIGS < http://www.aigslaboratory.com/ > ( Gem lab in Thailand, Cheap)

Question : Are there any online retailers where I can buy loose gemstones individually as opposed to strands?
I'm just beginning to make jewelry. I don't need entire strands, or to buy in bulk. Can I only do this physically at a beading supply store, or are there places online that will sell them one by one?
Answer:
Not sure if it will help but try Kandras beads.com Never hurts to ask.

Question : Where can I find necklace settings for loose gemstones?
I'm trying to find necklace settings onlines for some loose gemstones and can't. Any help? Thanks.
Answer:
The thing to do is go to a jeweler who makes jewelry. You can't buy a necklace pre-made without stones and expect your stones to fit. So, find a reputable jeweler. He/She can show you your options for setting and will make the necklace for you.http://www.paynesjewelry.com/ this is just one site offering custom-made jewelry. If you want to search online, just Google "custom-made jewelry"

Question : Where in central New Jersey can I sell my loose gemstones for cash?
I went to a cash for gold place, and got some money for the gold, but they gave me back the gemstones because they were not certified to evaluate and pay for them. They are in good condition and I have some ones I think may be worth something. I need an actual store, not an online place.
Answer:
Try a jewelry store. They might be able to buy them from you. If they can't or won't, ask them for the name of a place that will.
