NO she is not right. Maybe in the old days but I have had 2 engagement rings and both were 3 stones. I loved mine. People who say stupid things like that have a bit of jealously to them so don't worry about her.Good luck and God bless,..

Question : Is it possible to take a pre-made band and then burnish/bezel in a diamond?
I have a kite cut diamond that I want to set in a band, possibly mokume gane or damascus steel. I'm sure if the cut was a normal round or princess it would be easier, but I fell in love with this diamond. This is for a mens ring, so a simple solitaire or ring like that just won't do. In my head I'm imagining a jeweler taking the band, etching out the shape of the stone, and then burnish or bezel the corners in. Am I over simplifying it or do you think it's doable?

I think you are need to design the setting from scratch. Head and shank are an all in one project. You have to get this custom made. It’s really a terrific idea and can be done.
