Editorial Review :

Absolutely striking! This Designer Inspired Engagement Ring is made of solid .925 sterling silver. With a modern triple row band, this ring is adorned with layers of sparkling round cut diamond CZ's that surround a CZ center-stone. This item has a dainty wearing feel despite its heavyweight look. While this engagement ring is not a designer knockoff, this piece stunningly captures the magnitude of its grace. Have a piece of jewelry you can cherish for a lifetime.

Questions & Answers
Question : What kind of wedding band should I get to go with my engagement ring?
My engagement ring is a 2 carat round brilliant solitaire set in a classic white gold 6 prong Tiffany setting. What kind of band would look good with it?Would an eternity band be too much?

Answer:
I definitely would not take away from the focus on the main diamond and I think you are right on track with something simple for the wedding band. Go with either an eternity band or the band with diamonds only halfway around like the other poster said. She had a REALLY good point about sizing issues regarding the eternity band. Another option......is to do a band on either side of the ring....to balance it out...for those of us with OCD and need to have things symmetrical. hahahahttp://www.kay.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product1%7C10101%7C10001%7C-1%7C80108828%7C15055% 7C15055.15090.15429.15505

Question : Can small diamonds be reset into an eternity band?
I know larger stones can be reset with no problem, but I've never heard of someone resetting smaller stones.Problem: I have a seven stone ring (each stone 1/6 ct) that are set in a band from the 40's. This item was my grandmother's but I would like the ring updated into a more trendy eternity band. They are currently set side by side each in a semi up raised 4 prong setting, with a 14k yellow gold band. I would want white gold for the resetting. Would it be possible to have a jeweler create a band setting using these stones and perhaps adding a few sapphires in between to achieve the look I'm going for? Would this be cost effective or more trouble than the stones are worth?

Answer:
It is possible to do this. As too the cost this could vary, but you could be looking in the region of £90-£130, maybe more, condition and quality are important factors.

Question : Wedding band on sale from $800 to $320...?
I know retail stores mark up prices of items (wedding rings) drastically. But why price a ring at $800..only to mark it down to $320?? I really liked the ring as soon as I saw it, but was SHOCKED when I saw $800 on the price tag...it's 14k yellow gold..wedding band with 5 or 6 diamonds in prong setting..1/4 total C weight. The sales lady could tell from my face that I thought the price was over the top and she took it behind the counter to "see what the sale price is" Then she comes back, tells me I'm in luck because it's on sale for $480 and Black Friday it will be $320 and then back up to $480 for awhile...then later it will be $800 again. If the store can still make a profit by selling it for $320..then why the heck..would they price it for $800? Just seems like a rip off to me and makes me not even want to buy the ring. However..I went to 8 jewelry stores and tried on different rings and THIS one looks great with my engagement ring when the others did not. What do you think about this? And the store I'm talking about is Belk in the mall.Fizzy- you are right. And that bugs me that stores do that. If a ring is $500 and I pay $320..THEN I think I got a good deal! But if it's $800 and I pay $320...that just annoys me because I know the store is playing "games" with me ...because no way they would sell a ring worth $800 (or near $800) for $320.

Answer:
The ring's worth is mostly irrelevant, jewellers price the rings at what the customer is willing to pay, which is usually well beyond its worth. Also, by pricing things this way, they can then mark the price down, as you saw, still make a considerable profit, and increase their chance of making a sale because you'll think you're getting a good deal, whether you are or not.

Question : Is this ring diamond or glass? Pictures included?
I have an old ring I recieved when my grandmother passed away in 2002. My initial reaction was that it was diamond, but I am really not sure. I am taking it to a jeweler tomorrow to have it looked at. It is an old ring, 1940's or older (I am thinking it may have been my great grandmothers, since the size is around size 8, where as my grandmother's wedding ring is a size 5 1/2). Is it possible for a diamond to have been put under glass in the ring setting? It has an open back setting and is very pretty and sparkley, but not like an obvious fake sparkley, like you see in very cheap rings today. It is set in either 18 or 10 K white gold (there is too much tarnish on the marking that I can't tell if it says 10 or 18), and has two small "diamonds" on both sides of the larger "diamond" in the middle. It has a 6-prong setting and seems to be a quality ring, but I would like to know if the diamond appears to be real or not. If it isn't real, I am thinking about getting a smaller diamond than the stone that is in the ring and having the prongs altered to fit the new diamond, so I can use it for my wedding in November. Can anyone tell if this is diamond or glass? I'm sorry, the pictures are kind of crappy, I took like 50, but these were the best, lol. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.editAlbumPhotos&albumID=1464533

Answer:
I can't see the pictures, unfortunately, but I can tell you a few things about diamonds. First of all, I doubt a fake stone would be using a 6 prong setting. 6 prongs are used to securely hold a stone into a ring, and for a less valuable stone 4 prongs would be more than adequate. The ring is also old, and the lack of sparkle is probably just due to the fact it hasn't had a professional cleaning in 60 years. Also, think of the times. Unless you've got a 5 ct. rock that looks suspiciously fake, it probably isn't. 40's were classy and it's unlikely that a fake stone would have been placed in a real setting with 6 prongs. That would have been in bad taste. Unlike today, if you couldn't afford diamonds, you simply didn't buy lots of diamonds. You didn't go parade a 3 ct. ''Tiffany Ring'' you bought for $40 at a Hong Kong street market. Try uploading the photos to a site where I can view them, and I'll take another look.

Question : Engagement Ring Question...?
On a 1 caret solitaire round diamond ring, is it better to have 6 prongs or 4 prongs? I think that the 4 prongs looks a lot better, I think that they show the diamond better. But is it easier to lose a diamond in the 4 prong setting.

Answer:
My engagement ring is a 1 carat cushion cut diamond with a cathedral, 4 prong platinum setting. I agree, the 4 prong shows off the diamond better (allows more light into the diamond so it sparkles better!). When my husband was ring shopping, he did a lot of research, and didn't find any reason that a 4 prong setting was any more likely to lose the stone.Make sure you get your ring checked out by a reputable jeweler once or twice a year - if your setting gets a little loose, it's better to find out about it while the diamond is still in the ring!!Also make sure your engagement ring is covered by your homeowners or renters insurance policy in case something does happen to either the ring or the diamond.

Question : What year did the Tiffany Marquis diamond setting come out?
I know that it was a new style debuted by Tiffany way back. It was special, in part because it is a 6 prong setting that really helps insure the diamond stays in the setting. I cannot find any other info on what year it was introduced by Tiffany. Thanks!

Answer:
Here is the site with the answers:http://www.tiffany.com/about/History.aspxAccording to their timeline, the Tiffany setting was introduced in 1886.More Tiffany info?http://jewelry.about.com/od/jewelrydesignerprofile1/p/charlesltiffany.htmMarquise diamond history? The distinctive marquise shape is believed to have originated in 18th century France under the rule of King Louis XIV, when he supposedly commissioned a new shape to mimic his mistress’s sultry smile. From this site:http://engagementrings.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Marquise_Diamond_Engagement_Rings

Question : Jewelry question??
I am looking for a band for this ring:Luxury redefined. This jewelry's round stunner (approx. 6.25mm) perches high in a white gold, six-prong setting, but the real romance begins when you feel the smooth contours of the ring's slender, rolled band glide smoothly against your finger. Approx. 1ct Measures approx. 5/16"L x 5/16"W x 5/16"H; shank 1/16"W Available in ring sizes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 14k Yellow or white Boxedwhat should I get .. 4mm? 5mm? 6mm? I'm not sure if you can even tell with the information given .. Sorry I'm sooo confused when it comes to jewelry???

Answer:
I'd have to actually see it in person to tell. Go to a few jewelry stores and try on bands. That's the only way you're going to be able to tell.
