Questions & Answers
Question : What kind of engagement rings do women usually like?
Im planning to pop the question to my girlfriend next month..And im scouting for cheap diamond rings..So what do women usually like for their engagement rings? Or do I have to ask her indiscreetly? Or just ask her friend instead?
Answer:
The first and most common mistake when it comes to buying a diamond engagement ring is not knowing enough about it in the first place. It is essential to educate yourself, primarily about a diamond's four C's, before going ahead and purchasing one. Failing to do so could lead buyers into the thieving hands of "used car salesmen", who could easily take advantage of their lack of knowledge. In order to avoid such misfortune, it is extremely important to know all about the four C's: carat, color, cut and clarity.

Question : What is your favorite style of engagement rings?
I am looking for engagement rings this week and was wondering if you could give me some good places to go or websites. I am looking for a ring that does not have the center stone already included as I would like to have aquamarine as the center stone. I would also like it to be a set with the wedding band with it. I would like the price to be under 1300 total with everything. Thanks so much for your help!
Answer:
I like unusual, modern settings that feature a solitary stone, or a two stone bypass style.I also like heirloom style, especially art-deco. I prefer colored gemstones to diamonds....settings can be either platinum or yellow gold depending on the stones, some look better in white metals, some look better in yellow.Go to your local jewelers, the private ones first before the chain stores...many offer loose stones and settings for a custom look....and beautiful choice, the aquamarine.

Question : Engagement Rings?
ARE MEN SUPPOSED TO BE GIVEN ENGAGEMENT RINGS OR ARE THEY FOR WOMEN ONLY?
Answer:
Men don't typically get one, but some do. I got my fiance an engagement ring:http://photos-926.ll.facebook.com/photos-ll-sf2p/v194/185/107/24900926/n24900926_30993317_1894. jpgIt's titanium with a tension-set sapphire chip. I figured it would be nice if we both had a symbol :) I wish more people would consider the roles of men and women in a relationship as equal. It bothers me how some people are very against women proposing. My fiance and I sort of pretty much decided we were going to get married, and I think we just did the formal proposal for the sake of it. Sorry for the ramble!

Question : What is the correct order to wear engagement & wedding rings?
Engagement ring first then wedding band, or wedding band first then engagement ring? And are there any stories, superstitions, etc., about the order to wear the rings? Thanks!
Answer:
You wedding band goes on first (closer to your heart), then your engagement ring.

Question : Engagement rings?
I barely ever wear jewelry and we have to go shopping for engagement rings. I know style is different from one person to another. But what are the popular cuts/styles these days? What about platinum vs white gold for the band? Would love some feedback..:) thanks
Answer:
platinum is much more expensive & it doesn't wear as well as white gold...it scratches easier & isn't as durable...classic round cut is always in style & it shines the most...princess cut is "in" right now...make sure it feels somewhat tight...you should be able to get it off by wiggling the ring up & down...it may feel tight at first but you'll get use to it...you don't want one that is loose because you could lose it! the color is more important than the clarity...you cannot notice imperfections in the diamond with the naked eye but you can notice a yellower diamond compared to a colorless or near colorless...do not purchase a ring from a store in the mall!! they sell the lower quality diamonds that other jewelry stores will not sell & they jack the price up & put them "on sale" so you think you're getting a good deal but you're really not... go someplace that offers no haggle pricing

Question : Why are engagement rings more expensive than wedding rings? Where I get a best quality one in cheap price?
We are looking for good diamond engagement rings. But some of my friends tell us it is more expensive than wedding rings. Why are engagement rings more expensive than wedding rings? Where I get a best quality one in cheap price?
Answer:
Generally speaking, the engagement ring has the main stone on it.The wedding band has much smaller stones on it therefore costing less.I got my wife's ring at Diamond Brokers of Florida:http://www.dbof.com/Or you could check out these other online sources:www.WhiteFlash.comwww.GoodOldGold.comwww.ExcelDiamonds.comwww.BlueNile.comBlue Nile's database is good, but they don't provide you with photos or analysis reports (ASET, Isee2, B-scope, etc) of the diamond. I wouldn't go with them for that reason.Happy hunting.***

Question : how did the tradition of having engagement and wedding rings start?
Does anyone know at what point couples start using both engagement and wedding rings? and who decided that the engagement ring is (normally) more fancy than the simple wedding band? wouldnt it make more sense the other way aruond as marriage is the big step?ive just been wondering this while my fiance and i look at wedding bands!
Answer:
These blog articles are about that very thing and are pretty informative...hope that helps?http://site.myloveweddingring.com/blog/2011/06/13/the-history-of-men%E2%80%99s-wedding-rings/h ttp://site.myloveweddingring.com/blog/2011/07/22/the-history-of-women%E2%80%99s-wedding-rings/

Question : Is there an alternative to traditional engagement rings?
I look at engagement rings and they all seem the same ... mostly diamond solitaires. Has anyone got any ideas for an alternative stone or something that makes your engagement ring a little different? Do it have to be just diamond?
Answer:
Definitely go with a non-diamond stone! Just do your homework on the stone you choose so you are sure to get something sturdy that will hold up with everyday wear.My fiance chose an engagement ring setting and had a custom-cut aquamarine put in as the center stone. Here are pics:http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLanding.action?c=lgskr25.6yuceiv9&x=0&y=828uo1&localeid=en_US

Question : Where can I find the cheapest diamond engagement rings that are still good quality?
Where can I find the cheapest diamond engagement rings that are still good quality?
Answer:
First do some research on diamonds. Go to stores that sell the really expensive stuff and take a good hard look at all of them. Decide what cut you're looking for (princess is very popular, but I like the way the brilliant cut looks better), decide what carat you're looking for. The most affordable rings are going to be around the 1/3 carat (for a single stone). Decide what band material you want. Yellow gold and White Gold are generally the cheapest you get. Decide what mount you want. The cathedral mount is very traditional, but there are some funkier ones that might better fit your style. Now, be willing to compromise a little. You're looking for affordability, so you need to be willing to negotiate.Go to a diamond resale store, most larger towns have a few. Take a look at a few different rings and ask what they have to offer. Never let on that any ring is perfect (even if it is). They are going to start high when it comes to price, you're going to start low. In the end you meet in the middle. Now here's the biggest piece of advice I can give! If you do well, you can get a fantastic ring around a third of the price of a new ring, but it won't be new. It will look new (or at least it should), and you're going to be very proud of yourself for getting such a great deal. Under no circumstances should you EVER tell anyone what you paid. And NEVER NEVER NEVER tell your fiancee what you paid, or that it was once worn before. Keep in mind, diamonds are millions of years old, there are no new diamonds, same goes for gold (except gold is much much older). Paying for a brand new piece of jewelry is for the filthy rich and the gullible.I can't tell you what I paid for the risk that my wife might one day find this, but it was a ring I never could have afforded otherwise. You might have to go to a few different shops, but make sure they specialize in jewelry. Don't go to a pawn shop!

Question : Have you seen any engagement rings with hearts on the side view?
I am looking for a diamond engagement ring with two bands of pave diamonds that come meet in the center to hold the center stone and when looking at the side of this ring the shape of a heart is made from the loop of the two bands. Have you seen anything like this? Or have you seen any diamond rings with hearts in the detailing on the sideview?Any that I would be able to buy?
