Question : Is Alloy Jewelry from China safe?
I'm thinking of buying some jewelry from Lucky brand and it's all this sort of unidentifiable alloy metal. It's mostly necklaces I'm looking at. But since there's been so many recalls of products that come from China, I'm wary of the metal they use, particularly since one of the recalls was for jewelry (children's jewelry, granted) that contained high levels of lead in the metal. I tried researching this online but didn't have much luck and would appreciate any links or info so I can decide if wearing these necklaces would be safe or not. I really prefer to wear metals like silver but I just can't afford that right now. Thanks!

You know what, I won't buy anything from China anymore that would come in contact with skin. I'm normally not paranoid, but I simply don't trust the situation.Now, to the best of my understanding, there are sometimes incidences of arsenic being found in metal alloys. I had this cute cute cow neclace which I wore all the time. During the week I was off during hurricane Katrina, I went to my cousin's house to visit some of my New Orleans relatives who were staying there. My neclace clasp broke and I lost my favorite neclace. We looked, but I never did find it. About a month ago, we had a family reunion at my house... low and behold, that same cousin was wearing my neclace. I told her it was mine, and asked for it back. With the fingerprints, as far as I know, the fingerprint impression is made in special clay, which is placed in a mold (or used as a mold). Then the melted silver or gold is poured into the mold and left to harden.You'd need general information about and skills in making metal jewelry. Those skills will transfer to the fingerprint jewelry.
