So why did China decide to switch the toxic metal 'cadmium' for 'lead' products in our children's jewelry?Is there a more sinister reason for this, or is this just an accident?

Lead was banned so they needed another cheap material as a substitute. Cadmium in children's jewelry was actually NOT regulated in the US, so the suppliers used it. This massive government misstep was twisted and used to blame Chinese suppliers when in fact it was the government that failed to regulate cadmium in such products. Cadmium is regulated in many other products, and it is regulated in Europe for such products. There is no reason why it wasn't regulated in children's jewelry except to purposely mislead suppliers or to demonstrate government incompetence.

it is an indoor all year market- only open on weekends- very nice. piped in music, indoor outdoor cage. We sell fairtrade items, but we also want gto sell MADE in AMERICa products as a balance. We sell jewelry, handbags, children's cotton stuffed toys and scraves- but spring and summer scarves sell poorly. WE are leasing a permanent booth and need to sell non food items as a profit- Any ideas? This is not a typical flea market-the items sold are quite nice.

At the very least you need to walk around that very market and see where people are queueing at and what for,.,..., this isn't data you aquire by brainstorming on, but by researching.You need to do the rounds of the indoor markets keeping your eyes open and writing it all down, then put the puzzle together at home.Also look at ebay's pulse pages and see what makes people tick. I am really considering getting one an then getting a charm with his birthstone, an one with his birthyear and having his name engraved on a tag. Cute Idea? Or stupid? PS I would wear the bracelt. Question : Is Alloy Jewelry from China safe?
I'm thinking of buying some jewelry from Lucky brand and it's all this sort of unidentifiable alloy metal. It's mostly necklaces I'm looking at. But since there's been so many recalls of products that come from China, I'm wary of the metal they use, particularly since one of the recalls was for jewelry (children's jewelry, granted) that contained high levels of lead in the metal. I tried researching this online but didn't have much luck and would appreciate any links or info so I can decide if wearing these necklaces would be safe or not. I really prefer to wear metals like silver but I just can't afford that right now. Thanks!

You know what, I won't buy anything from China anymore that would come in contact with skin. I'm normally not paranoid, but I simply don't trust the situation.Now, to the best of my understanding, there are sometimes incidences of arsenic being found in metal alloys.
