Exquisite and delicate brooch
I bought this brooch as a birthday present for my mother-in-law. She liked it very much -- she commented that the colors are delicately pretty and the flowers look beautiful. I loved this brooch when it arrived and I opened the box (the box it comes with is also very pretty -- perfect for presenting a gift) -- very beautiful. I would wear it myself -- a pretty touch of springtime added to your favorite dress/blouse.

Questions & Answers
Question : Is the largest circle in a square predictable upon repititon?
If you take a square by of two units, the largest circle that it could contain would have a radius of one unit. The second largest circle not overlapping the first circle would be the four circles that could be formed in the corners. Next would be the eight circles that fit between the middle of the larger circle and the second circle. The cycle is proressing in number but at one point the four circles in the corner will be the largest, so the number will increase, yet decrease to four on occaison. Is this predictable? Is the size of the largest circle in this sequence definable?
Answer:
Sorry I did not see your q earlier. The problem is that it is vaguely formulated. At each stage you'll have either 4 circles or 8. That actually would have to be proved. You might very well have more by some crazy coincidence. But what do you precisely want to know?

Question : What does the circle on hot water bottles mean?
I have a hot watter bottle and round the rim it has a circle with 12 spaces like a cake(circular). 6 of them are filled in with stars. What does this mean?
Answer:
The large number at the centre of the circle is the year of Manufacture - for example 06= 2006The outer circle is divided into 12 segments - each segment representing one month. January is at 1 o'clock and continues in a clockwise direction. As each week passes by, a small dot appears in each monthly segment, so it is possible to establish the date of manufacture to within one week.I know this applies to rubber hot water bottles. I don't know about the plastic ones as I've never had one.It all seems a bit over the top to me. I don't really care how old my bottles are just as long as they don't leak. In fact, I think older bottles are softer and more cuddly.

Question : What does the dash and circle designate on a power switch?
I know one is on and the other off, but I am embarrassingly confused. Does the complete path of the circle indicate closed circuit (on) and the line indicate open (off), or is it the other way around, where the circle is an open and the line indicates closed?
Answer:
It is a one and zero (for the computer age...binary). I remember when I first saw this. It was quite unusual. Even to this day, it catches my attention as being new.The other odd thing is the blue LED's

Question : How do you determine how many circles can fit around another circle?
How do you determine how many circles of diameter x can fit around a circle of diameter y? Is there a formula or formulatic method for find this out?
Answer:
Sketch the following figure to help understand: A circle with radius y tangent to a circle with radius x. A line segment of length x+y is drawn between the centers of the circles. A line segment is drawn from the center of the circle of radius y so it is tangent to the circle of radius x at a point you can label P. A radius of the circle of radius x is drawn to the point P. Now you have a right triangle. 360 degrees divided by 2arcsin(x/(x+y)) rounded down to an integer will give the number of circles of radius x that will fit around the circle of radius y without overlapping.

Question : What is the name of the circle/ring that is made when you twist the paper and join it to form a circle/ring?
Apologies if my question sounds a bit mixed-up! I actually saw this shown on TV once: you twist a straight piece of paper and then join the two ends to make a circle. If you try to draw a line on one side of the circle, eg: the inner side, the line automatically goes on the outer side too, due to the curve of the paper. I hope someone out there understands what i'm referring to!
Answer:
It's called a Möbius strip.

Question : How many small circles will fit into a larger circle?
I have a 14" circle how many 1" circles can I fit in side the 14" circle? Is there a formula to figure this out with different diameters? Say I want to fit 2" circles inside a 14" diameter would the formula stay the same?
Answer:
This is a hard problem. There is no simple formula. The best known results are at this web site:http://hydra.nat.uni-magdeburg.de/packing/cci/#ResultsThe answer for the 1" circles in a 14" circle is 161 circles. A picture is here:http://hydra.nat.uni-magdeburg.de/packing/cci/cci161.htmlThe answer for the 2" circles in a 14" circle is 38 circles. Question : How to make 11 small circles around a center circle in Powerpoint?
I need to draw a chart in MS Powerpoint that has a center circle with 11 other circles surrounding it. I'd like it to look like a "bracelet." I've tried to make this evenly spaced, but it's just a cut/paste way that I'm doing it. Is there some automatic way to do this which will build the 11 circles and space them evenly around the center circle?
Answer:
PowerPoint's diagrams will do that for you...PowerPoint XP/2003: Insert pulldown menu --> Diagram --> Radial Diagram (you should see an icon that looks like what you are describing) --> OK --> the diagram will insert and a Diagram toolbar should open up. On the toolbar, click Insert Shape until you have 11 circles. You can add text, format the circles, delete the lines, etc. If you need a bigger center circle, it's probably easiest to just draw a new one on top.The diagram can not be ungrouped, but if you need to ungroup it to do more editing, copy it, then go to the Edit pulldown menu --> Paste Special --> select EMF and OK. It will then be able to be ungrouped, but will no longer have the auto layout functions of a diagram.PowerPoint 2007 is the same way, but go to the Insert tab --> Smart Art --> Cycle --> Basic Radial. Use the Design tab at the top to add the additional circles and format the art. In this version, you can actually scale up the center circle and still maintain the diagram features, so you shouldn't need to ungroup it.

Question : How do make a camera travel around a circle in 3ds Max?
I have a model of a guitar and I'm trying to set up the animation for the camera to travel around in a circle to show off 360 degree viewing. I'm using a path constraint with the camera to a circle to get the 360 but every time I move the camera around the circle weird effects happen. Camera moves in opposite directions, jumps around the circle, or moves to new starting positions. Any advice or tutorials?
Answer:
First - don't use path constraint on the camera directly.Instead - use it on a dummy, and link the camera to the dummy. This way you can still move the camera around the dummy.Secondly - there are 2 common causes for your problem - 1. The camera is moving a lot faster than you think it is. check the path constraint and verify the starting and ending frame.2. the camera is aligned (or almost aligned) to the Z direction. if that is the case your only solution is to rotate the whole scene.
