Questions & Answers
Question : Sewing a sphygmomanometer cuff: what are the measurements?
I had an incident with my cuff and can't seem to find a replacement cuff, I was planning to sew a sphygmomanometer. But I just don't know the measurements and how I should sew it. Also are there other designs for sphygmomanometer cuff?
Answer:
You can get a syhygmonanometer cuff, along with the whole kit, at any drug store. I have two, one that has a bulb and one that is electric and I can't see an ounce of difference between them. The problem in sewing is that you have to make a pocket that will hold the bladder and then stitch the bladder in without puncturing it. I would spend $15-20 on a new one before I started fixing the older one.

Question : How will rotator cuff surgery effect my desire to box?
It looks like I've got a work related rotator cuff tear -- I'm still waiting to find out if surgery is in my future. I'm in my mid 20's and in my teens I used to box. What can I expect after a rotator cuff surgery? Is it likely that I can become good as new and not worry too much as long as I keep proper form, etc?
Answer:
I tore my rotator cuff while boxing in 2005. I was throwing a clumsy right hook and overextended my shoulder. It was a partial tear, not all the way through. Because it was only a partial tear, I did not need surgery, and it has healed successfully. For several months after the tear, however, it was painful, and I couldn't really do much with my right arm. I had to build it up back slowly and had physical therapy. I didn't box at all that first year of recovery, but worked out with weights and machines and was careful to start with light exercises and build back up slowly and carefully. However, now, 3 years later, it is well healed and I am able to box or do other forms of exercise. Each case is individual. First of all, make sure you need the surgery. In many cases, this is an injury that heals, but you will need to build your shoulder back up slowly and gradually--no boxing at first! Only after you have built your strength and flexibility back up slowly and cautiously through physical therapy and a gradual exercise program, then you may very well be able to box again!

Question : How do you make Cuff sleeves out of paper ?
My teacher wants us to make cuff sleeves out of paper , can you tell me a step by step procedure or give me any websites that do so ? thanks!
Answer:
1. Just get a white piece of paper and make sure it's long enough to roll around your wrist, then cut it to a certain degree to make it's the size of a cuff. 2. When it's wrapped around and it is the size you want the cuff to be get a black button or two and place it where the two sides of the paper meets. 3. Get a clear string and put it through one (or more) of the button holes and place the string underneath the paper (where your arm is) and get some tape to hold it in place.Oh look! A paper arm cuff! :O

Question : How do you calibrate a blood pressure cuff?
I got this manual blood pressure cuff, and I've only used it a few times, but I noticed the pointer points about 10 units below zero when fully deflated. Does anyone know how to fix that?
Answer:
simple...if it so hard to calibrate...evertime you get the blood pressure counted, just minus the value you get by 10 units so you'll got the actual result.

Question : How much cuff should show when wearing cuff links?
How much cuff should show when wearing cuff links. Is it a case more cuff is better to show of your cuff links or have just a fraction showing to hint you are wearing them?
Answer:
Cuff links are usually meant to be shown off, so you'd want to show all of the cuff. Although some people do not do this, but try showing the complete cuff and see how you like it. But if not an inch or so of the cuff should be fine! That is pretty standard and what you see in everyday wear and such.

Question : Any tips on getting dirt smudges off of the sleeve cuff of my white cotton dress shirt?
I don't know where these little smudges come from. They seem to just naturally manifest themselves. I don't really want to have to wash the whole shirt to remove them since they're always just isolated to the cuff of my sleeve. Any tips?
Answer:
Try a baby wipe.=)

Question : Is there a difference between cuff links for men and boys?
I've been trying to think of something a little extra to get for my son this Easter to go with his 3 piece suit. The only things I can come up with are cuff links, button covers, or tie clips. I can find them for men, but not for young boys.Is there a difference?Do they even exist?Does anyone know where I could find them?
Answer:
I don't think there is any difference whatsoever!

Question : Is it fashionably exceptionable to cuff leggings if there to long?
I bought rely nice black leggings but I'm short so there so long that if I don't cuff I step on them. It's a cuff or not to cuff problem.
Answer:
I don't know in which country do you live but it is an age old fashion in India to wear long legging type pants which Indian women call 'Churidar' - churi means bangles. It is one of the many types of salwars. To know what is salwar read the info at http://www.indianwomenclothing.com/salwar-kameez/ When Indian women wear this 'churidar' the bottom of churidar gets cuffed and give a beautiful effect to the upper top which they call 'kurta'. They even take a dupatta which is a long cloth like longer scarves to give the dress a more beautiful effect. Sometimes they don't take dupatta. These days long leggings (of course having cuffs) are in fashion in India. They are not only worn with kurtas but with ladies tops too. So there are people on this earth who wear cuff leggings and with pride too. So, if you too wear them but feel uncomfortable about the onlookers or others who ask questions about it just tell them you are following the ethnic Indian fashion. To have more idea about churidars you can read about it and see its images at the website I am referring here.

Question : What effect does cuff size have on the accuracy of a blood pressure monitor?
Would a cuff that is too large give an artificially low reading?I used my dads blood pressure monitor, but his cuff is for someone with arms that are more than 30cm, mine are only 23cm. I pulled it as tight as i could get it, but the reading seems really low.
Answer:
You're exactly right. A too large cuff will give too low readings. A too small cuff will give too high readings. Just like Goldilocks and the three bears... you need a cuff that is "just right"... for you.
