Editorial Review :
In Tibetan Buddhism, traditionally malas of 108 beads are used. Some practitioners use malas of 21 or 28 beads for doing prostrations. Doing one 108-bead mala counts as 100 mantra recitations, the extra repetitions done to amend any mistakes in pronunciation or other faults of recitation.Malas are mainly used to count mantras. These mantras can be recited for different purposes linked to working with mind. The material used to make the beads can vary according to the purpose of the mantras used. Some beads can be used for all purposes and all kinds of mantras. These beads can be made from the wood of the Bodhi tree (ficus religiosa), or from 'Bodhi' seeds, which is a misnomer as the seeds are from a tree related to the Rudraksha (Elaeocarpus ganitrus) and not the Bodhi tree (being a fig tree, its seeds are inside a tiny fig, and are minuscule). The scientific name of this tree, native to Nepal, is yet to be determined. Another general-purpose mala is made from another unknown seed, the beads themselves called 'Moon and Stars' by Tibetans, and variously called 'lotus root', 'lotus seed' and 'linden nut' by various retailers. The bead itself is very hard and dense, ivory coloured (which gradually turns a deep golden brown with long use), and has small holes (moons) and tiny black dots (stars) covering its surface. Prayer Mala or beads are usually used by Buddhists around the world especially in Tibet, Nepal and India and used for meditation, counting mantras, and prostration and those counters are especially for counting when you do prostration or in a retreat for counting mantras. Malas are worn on the left wrist while not in use. Please email me for more detail and i will be more than happy to assist you. Suggested Mantras for this mala * "Om Muni Muni Maha Muni ye soha" To Lord Buddha Shakyamuni * "Om Tare Turi Tutari Turi Soha" To White Tara * "Tayatha Om Pekatse Pekatse Maha Pekatse Raza Samu Gati Soha" To medicine Buddha.

She was selling a Cross and a star.

Question : How do i restore shine to Sandcast Aluminum beaded serveware that was accidentally washed in dish washer?
I have several pieces of beaded recycled sand-cast aluminum serve-ware that was washed in the dishwasher on accident and now all of the shine is gone and when you touch it grey smut comes off on your fingers... I have tried silver polish and this did not work... How do i get the shine back?
Answer:
First wipe off as much of the smut as possible. Then try rubbing compound on a cloth. If that's too slow then try 1200+ grit sandpaper followed by rubbing compound. Or if that's too slow try 1000 grit followed by 1200 grit followed by rubbing compound. Etc. Although the rougher you go the more metal you lose.

Question : How can I find contacts to purchase my handcrafted Native American beaded jewelry?
My husband and I have a Native American crafts business that deals mostly in hand beaded jewelry. We normally travel the powwow trail but with gas prices the way they are it is making it very hard to cover expences. I have decided to try wholesaling my jewelry. I would still earn an honest living and cut out all the aggrivation of traveling. But have no idea how to reach contacts and let the word out. I do this full-time, so production is no problem. I have a paypal account already set up. Most of my bases are covered except getting product out on the market. Does anyone have realistic ideas or would even be interested?
Answer:
I would look into this site for crafters and other artisans to sell their work through. It is really really cheap to post listings. http://www.etsy.comIf you decide to do something like that, afterward I'd advertise yourself as much as you can online and however else, and submit your shop/page URL of it to freebie search engine submit things. Good luck! : )

Question : How do you make a beaded lizard keychain?
And other beaded animal keychains? Thankyou. Please don't say stuff like you need string and beads. Please tell me how to do it step-by-step and/or links.
Answer:
1- start with a knot in the middle of a long string, one red bead goes on next. 2- be sure to pull bead to knot one string going through bead on each side. 3- make the snake tail by making seven rows of bead with string going through each bead. 4- add two beads next repeating the same process. 5- then three to the end. it can be as long as you want it to be.6- knot the end and cut it. theres your snake. Oop's sure you don't want a snake? Lizard is like a alligator. 1,2,3 roll one bead. 4 roll 2 beads. 5 and 6 has three beads . legs add five beads then loop back into the last two beads. next 7 and 8 roll 4 beads. 9 roll 3 beads and second set of legs. 10th roll is 2 beads and 11th roll is 3 beads and you loop eyes on then 12th is four then 13th is 3 beads then 14th is two.

Question : How do i mail beaded bobby pins to a buyer on Ebay?
I make beaded bobby pins and I plan on selling them on Ebay. I need to know how to mail them once someone buys them. Because they are so small I don't want to mail them in a huge envelope because I think they'll charge me at the post office. Any suggestions?
Answer:
Small padded envelopes would work. You can mail them first class, which is not very expensive. That is what I do. And the BUYER can pay the postage, so you don't lose money. You just have to be sure you charge the right amount. Also, you might want to check out an alternative site - etsy. Unlike ebay, it charges quite low posting fees (only 20 cents per item) for a full 4 month listing and only 3.5% final value fee. Ebay charges more for listings and 8% - 9% for final value. But etsy is a 'flat price' site, not an auction site, so you need to be sure what you want to sell your item(s) for.http://help.etsy.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/136/session/L3NpZC81LTFQWVo2aw%3D%3D

Question : How do you make a beaded dress with only beads and string?
I dream of dresses i want to make all the time. Well, imagine a beaded keychain. You know, the ones that are made to look like animals. Now think of a multi stranded beaded necklace. Both of those things have this in common: theyre only made from string and wire and beads! Is it possible to make a dress like that? It seems tedious. And yeah, it'd be sheer and see-through so id wear a mini dress under.
Answer:
wow so I am not the only one with that dream of making a beaded dress. I really couldn't come up with an answer...

Question : I make beaded jewelry. What is the best way to sell it?
I've considered craft fairs/city festivals and the internet. Do you have any other creative ideas for places to sell beaded jewelry?
Answer:
Friends and Work are the best way to start out and spread word of mouth. Try church and school fairs where you can buy a table for the day. $10-$50/day The Craft Fairs/Festivals are usually a lot more expensive and you sometimes need to provide pictures of your work to apply. Etsy.com is a great way to put your stuff on the internet.

Question : How to make Beaded rings - visual instructions please?
I'm looking for sites with instructions for making beaded rings, particularly sites that demonstrate the patterns with clear visuals (static or video). I'd also love book titles for basic beading 'how to ' books. Thanks.
Answer:
I found a couple of sites:http://beadwork.about.com/library/weekly/aa110298.htmhttp://jewelrymaking.allinfoabout.com/fea tures/beading.htmlAs for books, if you google "beaded rings", you'll find some listed. If you have a Ben Franklyn store near you, you'll find many, and they are on sale for 25% off. I bought two myself, last week, as I want to learn jewelry making myself.
