Great gift!

We bought this for my mother's 70th birthday, and included all the birthstones of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids... with room to grow :-). The necklace is very high quality, and stones look beautiful in it! She was thrilled with the gift, and has been wearing it daily since receiving it three weeks ago. I highly recommend this for Mother's Day!

Would be very nice...if it were 35$.

I bought this for my mother for Christmas. I had to buy another chain for it because the chain that comes with it is very cheap looking and not very sturdy. Even without the additional chain purchase, I think this is quite overpriced. It should be about 25-40$, not >60$. My mother did say that she liked it, but that was mainly because of the sentiment behind it (a lovely idea). Also, as mentioned in previous reviews, I am going to have the stones professionally set in the locket, because they otherwise fall to the bottom and are not easily visible.

this locket of mother and child is just beautiful. the scroll work shows off the different birthstones inside. i have 7 stones in it. the piece is nice and heavy. i just love it. would recommend it to any mother or grandmother.

Have Super Glue Handy

My mother had been wanting something to show the birthstones of both her children, her son-in-law, and her granddaughter that could easily have more birthstones added to it later as her family grows. This piece was perfect and also both attractive and novel. The only problem (as another customer has pointed out) is that the birthstones are too small for the large locket, so they end up just jumbled together at the bottom. My husband suggested using super glue, so I tried that and it worked. Once I glued the relevant gems (top face glued to the inside of the front of the locket), they stayed in place and were all perfectly visible. I don't know how the glue will affect the silver in the future, but without having the gems visible, this pendant was pointless to me.

A lot of Kids?

I got this for my Mom - who has 8 grandkids. I was able to fit all the stones to represent the whole family from Mom and Dad down to the youngest grandchild. The Locket is beautiful and the chain goes through loops on the back that keep the locket closed (to avoid loosing any stones.) The one thing that would make this a 5 star instead of a 4 star review is the chain is not as pretty as the one for the smaller locket like this one. I realize it needs to be a little more heavy duty because of the size of the locket, but it could still be a little nicer. I'm going to look for a nicer one and replace it.

What books have you written?

I don't need to bother writing a long review. This book as well as the entire series is fantastic. To all the haters who gave it one or 2 stars-- WHAT BOOKS HAVE YOU WRITTEN? Please let me know so I can read them since you all seem to know everything there is to writing fantasy. I read well over 100 fantasy books a year most of which are 'doorstoppers'. I've read everyone. I READ everyone. Maybe this book as well as the rest of the series has not broken huge ground-- but it is extremely entertaining, geat world building, very gritty and dark as well as humorous, vividly descriptive. You know this author has PASSION for the story by the way he writes. Aaahh I've said enough... To all the haters out there go back to reading your Waste of Time, Women of Time, and Wheel of Grime series

Read something else - anything else

I have enjoyed a wide variety of novels, from the light-hearted fun fantasy romp to the thought-provoking and complex. I say this only to explain that I am not someone who wanders around routinely bashing good writing because it is in a style or about a subject of which I am not fond. That said, this was 20 something dollars I sincerely wish I could get back.

The overwhelming, glaring, impossible-to-get-past problem with this long collection of loosely associated words is the sheer, predictible two-dimensionality of every aspect the writer lays before us. Characters are good - or evil. Male - or female. Complex motivations? Oh no, no, none of those for this 'epic.' I just flatly could NOT accept that these characters could exist in ANY world, and as a result found it impossible to actually CARE whether they succeeded in . . . well, whatever it was they were trying to accomplish. I still don't know, the characterization was so token and the suspension of disbelief so beyond me, I honestly couldn't tell you what great quest these poor, sketchy characters are toiling through.

There are many, many fine works out there by hundreds of other authors. Spend your money on one of those.

Not worth buying but ok if you are bored

Most of the negative reviews are on the right track with the criticism. While not an English major, the book has some terrible writing. I hate when prophecy is included in a book every chapter, because you know that the character will live becuase when does a book with prophecy ever get it wrong. *Spoilers ahead* Also, the prince who is no slouch when in a fight gets owned by the fastest, strongest warrior that has ever lived on his planet, and then after vowing to kill him 1000 times before he dies he does kill him. Somehow able to stay alive during the fight and when about to be killed he tricks the guy with the "Oh no, what is that behind you" look to make him glance behind him and then gets killed. The warrior could catch a dagger thrown at him and moved with lightning speed, but the llok gets him. ALso, the princess who has been mentally destroyed twice with no way to reach her, comes back a little as the killing blow is about to fall, and the wizard didn't kill her baby as instructed waiting on a last second miracle. What suspense, puh-lease. Also, you know things will happen before they do as with Tristan's newborn son and when he refuses to burn the body as with the women's bodies, who didn't see that coming, even if you didn't read the prophecy basically stating he would live. These were just a few of the things that make this book almost unreadable, but the worst part is I bought all of them together and now I will read them. Otherwise, read this one if you must, but you won't be going to book two.

This book was so bad, on so many different levels, that I feel insulted as a fan of Fantasy that. It shows how little publishers must think of us if they believed that this would sell. My only consolation is that I bought it for 1.99 at a used book store.

When I saw the pendant I fell in love! And when I received it I proved I wasn't wrong :) Of course, I read the other reviews complaining about the lock, so I've never tried to open it.

Great piece of jewelry!

My wife loved this when I bought it for her and she almost always gets compliments on it when she wears it. In fact, she bought another one herself to give to a friend who liked it so much. The only issue is that the clasp on the cage tends to open easily and the globe can fall out, but a drop of gel superglue solved the problem - neither my wif nor I thought it was a big enough deal to knock the rating down.

Can't trust the lock.

I have only had this piece for two days. I received it as a gift. I no longer have it. The lock on the cage opened at some point and the globe is now gone. I loved this piece. It has been on my wish list for two years. I am terribly dissapointed, and will be contacting the seller to request a refund, or a replacement of the globe. I had contemplated wireing it shut... had i been able to find the globe.

Not their best item. Don't be fooled by the picture.

First off I would like to say that I LOVE Silver Insanity items and have bought things from them numerous times. They are a good company with quality items, but this item is not one of their best. I think they should just take it out of their inventory. I'm sad to say that this item looks much better in the picture than in real life. The metal is of poor quality, not like their usual silver products, The globe itself actually looks really cheap and ugly. I'm thinking that maybe if I found a round stone to fit inside and glued the lock shut then it might work, depending on if I can get the metal shined up to standard. Right now it's been sitting in my jewelry box for over a year and I have never actually worn it yet. Also the lock mechanism on it doesn't stay closed all the time.
